problem is i have a stand alone dvd player and bought about 6 different kinds of blank dvds from local retailers but the machine just wont recognize them.found some old blanks (ritek r03) and they work no problem, but they seem to have a much darker dye than the more recent ones....any help much appreciated :)

worth spending money on a good brand imo busta - I've wasted many cheap ones that my writer doesn't or can't recognize, I find verbatim unbeatable on quality and well worth the money

It must be a terrible machine. I got 100 Memorex dvds for £15 from Maplin, and even the £1 shop DVDs load and record OK.

to be fair Velasquez i've had the machine for 5 years (its a liteon and cost £300) might be time to splash out on a new one.....what machine is yours ?

tevez i bought a 100 Taiyo Yuden discs a couple of year ago (when they were £69 per 100 and the machine doesn't like them) so i think it's a case of the dye colour that my machine only likes dark dye
