have a few dvd's at home, thinking of installing a blu ray optical drive on my pc and start buying blu ray discs instead. anyone have opinions on the picture quality between blu ray and normal dvd's?
Well obviously they will be in HD not SD so you will see a LOT more detail, but you'll only really appreciate it on a big telly as said above. If you do a search for HD sample videos you can download some clips from microsoft which will give you an idea of the quality you can expect and decide for yourself.
Personally just to watch them on your PC while paying much more for the blu ray discs I wouldn't bother.

i'd like to add, for those who do not have blue ray yet, an up-scaling DVD player that plays DVD's through a HD TV will also give you a better DVD picture/experience. Just an alternative to blue ray whilst the price of blue ray disks drop..
