No its not possible to be just friend with the opposite sex. The question of sex will always arise, and it's the sex which gets in the way, or it wouldn't matter who was friends with whom. (I think that's correct syntax, perhaps a language buff can straighten me out). So - Same sex freinds fine (unless you're gay I suppose), opposite sex not. Some years ago, when I was married, I got chatting to a local betting shop manager(ess) and we arranged to have a game of snooker on her lunch-break (shop near the snooker hall) My mrs went a bit spare. I suppose she had a point, I mean, if the lady in question had made any moves in the naughty direction I would probably have potted a couple of extra balls. I don't think I know any purely platonic mixed sex relationship between heteros where the subject, or deed, hasn't been involved. |
