Good afternoon Gentlemen. I have enlarged number eight, but the resolution is too poor to be able to make out any writing in the picture. Likewise, the van's numberplate is illegible. The only clue could be the amount of papers lying on the dashboard. When I drove a van I used to shove stuff behind the steering wheel rather than on the passenger side where it would fall off. If this is the case here we're looking at a right hooker, which would obviously suggest a resort in the UK. My guess is Sidmouth. :^0 Funnily enough, i did the same - enlarged it, checked number plate, tried to read the signs, but didn't go as far as to look at the newspapers. You're definately more of a detective than i am! |

van parked facing forward on LHS? of road, or facing backwards on RHS? of road. or photo flipped?
I think England then with a transit |
By:
I wonder if it could be Westcliff with that parade of fish bars
By:
number 9 has the beach at Cannes got a well known name ?
By:
I thought of photo-flipping possibilities Billy, but the blue awning tells us we're looking at the photo the right way around.
By:
The biggest clue may come if Pump tells us where he found this montage.
By:
I think the red arched sign in the background street reads: RESTAURANT & BAR.
No help there then! :( |
By:
Hmm those techies on CSI or NCIS would have this in no time.
looks like a fairly flat road onto a shingle beach, so presumably not much tide to worry about or seawall. |
By:
my best guess for no 8 is Bognor Regis - but still investigating
By:
I think I recognise the bloke on the left - Is it Worthing?
By:
1 Blackpool
2 Scarborough 3 Miami 4 Bournemouth 5 Rio de Janeiro 6 Brighton 7 Cape Town 8 Aldeburgh 9 Malaga All except 1 and 5 are guesses. |
By:
I thought that too Ken, but it's not him. I checked.

Pretty sure 1 is quite lovely, not Blackpool.
By:
9 must be Cannes, Nice is shingle
By:
cheers red, fair enough :)
By:
So we just need 8 then?
By:
I'd go with no 8 for Bognor Regis ..... but it's only a guess.
By:
Sidmouth has got iron railings so it can't be that.
By:
just number 8 needed but I reckon its impossible unless someone recognises it as somewhere they have actually been.
By:
the clues seem to be there. Probably an English holiday resort, possibly shingle beach, road between the shop fronts and the "beach". cast iron railings a bit rusty from the sea weather. pull down canopies on the shops and cafes. somewhere you might go to as a couple by bike in shorts and t-shirt.
what looks like either "restaurant and bar" or "amusement arcade" in the background. and a dirty great pink apartment block / retirement flat /hotel behind it. Now thinking either one of the Butlins resorts, or perhaps South Wales somewhere |
By:
I vote Southend:

Red and blue canopies separated by one other, a road going behind the canopies with taller buildings beyond, the shadow of the railing matching the one in the pic, it's there I tell ye...

I feel congratulations are in order.
By:
Congratulations Ken! :)
You are undoubtedly correct, sir. |
By:
At last.
Thank you PM. |
By:
I can see where you're coming from, but there isn't much to go on, is it the Westcliff end of the prom? Very well done for sourcing that Ken, and not at all a waste of about 45 minutes.
Is No 1, Paris? |

I think that's the Petronas tower in number 1 so it must be Kuala Lumpur.
By:
I hope that one is the same as Ken's overhead shot, Billy. Otherwise I have offered my congratulations prematurely! :0
That picture is definitely the one; you can see the RESTAURANT & BAR arch in the background. |
By:
PM - yes same end of Westcliff on Sea
By:
Congratulations to you both then. :)
How Interpol have passed you two by I don't know. |
