I have enlarged number eight, but the resolution is too poor to be able to make out any writing in the picture.
Likewise, the van's numberplate is illegible. The only clue could be the amount of papers lying on the dashboard. When I drove a van I used to shove stuff behind the steering wheel rather than on the passenger side where it would fall off. If this is the case here we're looking at a right hooker, which would obviously suggest a resort in the UK.
My guess is Sidmouth.

Funnily enough, i did the same - enlarged it, checked number plate, tried to read the signs, but didn't go as far as to look at the newspapers. You're definately more of a detective than i am!

Hmm those techies on CSI or NCIS would have this in no time. looks like a fairly flat road onto a shingle beach, so presumably not much tide to worry about or seawall.

the clues seem to be there. Probably an English holiday resort, possibly shingle beach, road between the shop fronts and the "beach". cast iron railings a bit rusty from the sea weather. pull down canopies on the shops and cafes. somewhere you might go to as a couple by bike in shorts and t-shirt. what looks like either "restaurant and bar" or "amusement arcade" in the background. and a dirty great pink apartment block / retirement flat /hotel behind it. Now thinking either one of the Butlins resorts, or perhaps South Wales somewhere

I can see where you're coming from, but there isn't much to go on, is it the Westcliff end of the prom? Very well done for sourcing that Ken, and not at all a waste of about 45 minutes.
Is No 1, Paris?

I hope that one is the same as Ken's overhead shot, Billy. Otherwise I have offered my congratulations prematurely! :0
That picture is definitely the one; you can see the RESTAURANT & BAR arch in the background.
