I've recently moved to a rural location and signed up to BT. Currently in my third week and just had my second day losing connection every five minutes or so. Is this unusual? Any advice? Thanks in advance....

We have BT at work and it has been playing about these last few weeks. they do admit it if you phone and complain, its all to do with this change and that change, but it is frequent (about once a week). I am with BE at home and they are excellent. Thanks

bt never gave me any problems in around 6 years however i apparantly couldnt increase my speed because i had signed up to bt yahoo broadband. i was getting around 6mbits and paying over 25/month.
switched to Be unlimited, 21.50/month and around 13mbits and that was in august, no problems with them.

Are you actually losing broadband (at the wall) or is it a PC failing to stay in contact with the Hub? If it's the latter, it's settings etc.

I don't know if it's anny better now but when I was with BT the broadband used to grind to a halt in the evening and weekends, during a weekday it was fine any other time Slow, slow, sloooow.
This was a few years ago so they might well be better now.

Goring, i'm losing the actual broadband - ie the light is going out on the hub etc..

Used to have this problem when we started with BT Broadband. The solid green light on the hub would go flashing orange, for no particular reason we could gather. Weirdly, I used to lift off the handset off its hook, then wait for the dialling tone to go dead, then restart the hub, then it would mostly come back online. Not always though. That was the first month or so. Been pretty solid ever since. I'm convinced our set-up is/was a bit dodgy where the ADSL adaptors are/were concerned, rather than it being there problem.

Had them for about 18 months (up to 3.5 yrs ago).

Had nothing but problems! Kept on losing all signal/connection, every time it was a problem at the exchange or the nearby junction box.

Had to go thru the same rigmarole every time i rang them (in india of course!!), they'd tell me to try this, try that, etc. I kept trying to tell them that the problem was always the same but they wouldnt have it. Tried to put me off getting an engineer out by telling me it would cost £75 if the problem wasnt their fault!!

Lost my temper numerous times with them!!

Feckin hopeless!!
