One for the oldtimers, Gamble. Very worried about him as he has not replied to an e-mail earlier this year and I have no other way of contacting him but fear the worst as he always replied promptly previously. A true legend of the boards, he had me in tears of laughter when he was on form.

Jimmy, he met my little brother a few times but I never managed to be in the same place as him, always kept missing each other. They went to Ascot one day and met in Spain as well. He really was not what you may have suspected, quite elderly, about mid 60's and perfectly normal to speak to given his often madcap writing. He had a classic thread on horse racing, "The Guiness Affair" if you remember that. The Daddy of the forum bar none for me, I loved reading his musings. Gamble could turn a bad day into a good day just by his writing and that is truly a gift.

Bert - he stood out head and shoulders above anyone else on here.
Unfortunately his temper fell far short of his intellect, which made him an easy target for the wind-up merchants. It was a sad day for the forum when he got himself banned. He came back but he was bedevilled by the same old problem, and finally called it a day. |

It was a shame about Bert. I've chatted to him a little in private and he seems a nice guy, but I've never known a shorter fuse on a poster. Some of his anger was genuinely troubling.
I'm ashamed to say I don't recognise many of these nominees and I must admit, I don't associate 'legend' with BF Chit Chat forumites! |

Although I'm sure it would have been a meeting of minds. Similar styles of posting. Last spotted some months ago slowly being corrupted into the deranged ways of punters place. A bit troubling, some of the stuff that I read on there. Bert was slipping into the abyss and seemed a different bloke (mind you, who wouldn't be on there) |
