It means you get no statements, letters etc sent to you. I like the idea of this as am happy with internet banking to provide me with these details. I could always go to a bank and request past statements if something needed investigating.
It also says you get no chequ book sent to you.
My question before proceeding is - does this mean that you never get another cheque book on the account, or does it mean that they done't AUTOMATICALLY send you a new one but you can request it?
You might say 'call them and ask' but I am rarely convinced that the offshore telephone people fully understand what I am saying and vice versa.

Their operation chucks out thousands of tons of CO2 daily.
The only thing different about this account is they save on stamps and put posties out of work.

It's just another way to make the poor customer pay in the long run. They save on printing out statements but you don't as you have to pay for your own ink and paper if you want to print out a statement.

Agree but it's a win-win for me as I would rarely want to print out a statement. The ones i receive in the post are a burden as I have to destroy them to avoid identity theft. Also, theres not point in taking up space by filing them. Who feels the need to go through old statements in a paper file?

I'm reluctant to putting bank/personal details in the bin, and earlier this year burnt about four years' worth of statements in my wheelbarrow. I've since cancelled all monthly statements, which even at best are missing off about nine days' worth of activity by the time it reaches your door. No need in receiving them if you can check your balance online or walk into a branch that's within good walking distance iyo.
Not only will you be thankful for cancelling it now, you'll also be pleased if, when in a relationship, your other half tries to track your expenditure but comes a cropper because she can't see your details. B-)
If you do 'go green' with HSBC you will still receive your yearly post that shows your incomings and outgoings in graph form.

She won't know I bank online though. I would only sign in when she's out of the house, and maintain essential fortnightly visits to the branch (to check my balance on-screen) to keep the veneer alive and well. ;)
