Turn your modem off at the mains. Power off your laptop. Switch both on again and then boot up computer. |

Cheers guys, tried switching it off but no joy am going to look for the drivers now.
Surely though it normally automatically picks it up? |

Switch both on again and then boot up computer. you can try this wot madasahatter suggests, but i dont switch the 2 on together. switch modem on 1st, then wait till all lights are on , then turn on desktop and wait till that loads, then laptop |

Tried all the control panel type options I think it must be something to do with ethanet connections as its not detecting anything. Normally when you unplug it says so and so disconnected but I'm getting nothing.
Is there somewhere I can enable ethanet connections? Ta |

Check the driver is installed for the network card and that it is working:
Start Settings Control Panel System Hardware Device Manager Network Adapters Does your adapter show up on there? Does it have have a (!) next to it? |

on both machines...
Start Menu - Run then type cmd then when the black window opens type ipconfig do you see the IP addresses you expect? |
