A friend of mine has a £200 overdraft limit that he has decided in his wisdom to take it up to £800 without permission. He does not earn much money and to be honest I have little sympathy as he has done it before.

He has asked me to help him which I am reluctant to do as he does not seem to learn his lesson.

However my question when will Barclays keep his card if he keepos trying to take monery out? They are charging him £23 unauthourised charges at the moment but can't see them letting him get away with it for much longer when I am sure it will get messy.

Why would they take his card? They are charging him £23 unauthourised charges every time he uses it. Great business for them.

As long as his wages keep going in, they will stand back and let him hang himself.

The banks do not usually allow you to go £600 over. How did he do this please?

I can't go even £1 overdrawn.

Howdi, I've always liked you, one of the more sensible people on here, and now surrounded by greedy fackers after a grand each.

Ignore these halfwits.

A monkey will do, for me.

I'm sure you'll do what's right, Howdi. There are a few blokes whom I would help without being asked and I wouldn't look for it back either. There are others who wouldn't get money out of me with a crowbar.

Never lend people money, it avoids disappoinment.

If you can afford it, slip them a few quid and tell them that they owe you a favour at some time.

These are exactly the sort of people we would all be paying for if the ruling had gone the wrong way yesterday.
Report Andy Murray November 26, 2009 10:44 AM GMT
nonono.. we would all be paying for ourselves if the banks started charging ;) we wouldnt be paying for eachother
Report Andy Murray November 26, 2009 10:44 AM GMT
right now people are paying for others

If you're considering lending to a friend, you shouldn't do so unless you're happy to give him the cash. Given how awful this guy is with money, chances are you'll never see it again.

If idiots are paying shrewdies then something must be right or Darwin should have a rethink.

Howdi before you make your decision think about this,if you were in a situation that you really needed a grand to help you though would you want someone to help you ?

^ base your decision on this.

the card will be revoked at cycle 4, which to me and you, means the 4th month of non-payment of the charges. As mentioned before, if he still gets his salary paid into the account and that's enough to meet the charges then they won't cancel it for some time. But this is clearly a hole that will continue to deepen until the inevitable happens
