By day I am Arthur Crabtree - not a bad person - but at night, I become CHANDICO, a voracious sexual predator who promotes a wide range of goods, including after shave lotion, briefs and protein shakes.
Funnily enough, Arthur Crabtree was my dad's cousin. You aren't a cinematographer born around the turn of the last century just down the road from me on Bradford are you Vel?

Arthur Crabtree (b. 29 October 1900 in Shipley, Yorkshire, England, d. March 1975 in Worthing, Sussex, England) was a British cinematographer and film director. [edit] Cinematography
His film career began in cinematography, with such credits as the Will Hay comedies Oh, Mr. Porter! and Good Morning, Boys (both 1937) and Hey! Hey! USA! (1938), the Arthur Askey vehicle Charley's (Big-Hearted) Aunt (1940), and The Man in Grey (1943) and *****by Gaslight (1944) for Gainsborough Pictures. [edit] Directing
Crabtree continued his association with Gainsborough as he started his directorial career, beginning with the melodramatic fantasies Madonna of the Seven Moons, starring Phyllis Calvert and Stewart Granger in 1945 and Caravan in 1946. His last two films were Fiend Without a Face (1958) and Horrors of the Black Museum (1959), a sci-fi and horror, respectively, both of which have become cult favourites, although the former enjoys a better critical reputation. Actually spoke to Stewart Granger briefly in 1980ish, he was appearing at the famous Alhambra in Bradford, and was staying at the Victoria Hotel in Bradford where I tippled regularly at the time. A grumpy pld beggar but a big star.

I wonder if Arthur Crabtree ever worked with Sandy "Can you hear me mother" Powell.

Apparently, she is very glad of the attention. If you write a fan letter, Jean Simmons will personally write back.
As CHANDICO, I'd like to see her in the jungle, doing bushtucker trials. But that doesn't make me a bad person.

There was once a rumour that Stewart Granger was my real father. My mother (for want of a better word) used to work in Pinewood Studios.

No idea, Bill, I was in my late teens and at a wedding at my aunts (dads sisters) house in darkest Sussex when I first heard it, but have no idea who told me, or if it was a rumour known to all the family.
Given the state of my mothers boatrace you can have 25/1 it was Stewart Granger.

I'll be working on a computer, free to talk while races are on, then paying out after the race. I think we're all holed up in Cheltenham itself this year, rather than Worcester, like 2007, or Swindon, like last year. Saves a bit of driving time.
Will be with Josey Wales and his business partner, don't know if Studyform's going yet, but will hopefully see Gogoidle at some stage of the proceedings.
Hope to see you there. I'll give you the joint name closer to March.
