difference between being careful and tight is a thin one

I'm saving like nothing else, but make myself go to the occasional pub quiz 'cos it gets me off the forum. I buy myself one drink for the usual 2.5 hours I'm there, and that's it. If I had close to plenty of money I'd get the drinks in like they do, but I just can't.
Tight people are happy to borrow but never lend. Hopefully the people I go to the pub with make that distinction as well. :0
