Let me get this straight...someone sent you a zipped xls file...u unzipped the file....did you extract the contents of the zip file (that would be the xls fine contained within) and save it somewhere on ur hdd before you worked on it ?

I opened it and did the work. It isnt saved anywhere, when I try to save it, it lists it as a name under macro-enabled excel file.......and then it isnt anywhere? I have a folder opened ready for it to be dragged into but it isnt anywhere...where the hell is it on my pc? please

I'm no expert on macro workbooks but if I were you I would do it this way....
Open zip file...Highlight the xls file and 'Extract' it...it'll ask for a place to save the file...Then go to where you saved your file and open it then do your work on it then save your changes. At leasst that way you know you have a copy of the file and where it's located.

Righto, done and saved. Can I send without Outlook Express (as a zip file)?

Yep...should be no probs...dunno how clued up u are with zip files...once you've done your work on the excel file and saved it you right click on the file and choose Add to zip file (if you're using Winzip for example). If it's not an overly large file you don't really need to zip it....
