Bought one 20 years ago, so not up to speed with today's detectors. The prob with mine was that it detected everything and as I live in Scotland, that meant I was digging up iron ore and even coal as carbon is a semi conductor. The so-called discriminator mode didn't seem to work. A £50 detector ought to be good enough for you. Only advantage in an expensive one is that it's more sensitive and can detect deeper, but that sensitivity can also be a pain.
