considering that they already squeeze £150 a year out of us in a licence fee.... which we have absolutely no choice in, whether we watch the crap that the BBC serve up of not... I think it's downright cheek for them to ask for even MORE dosh..

This is 2009... The BBC needs commercialising NOW!

Report sparkmaster. November 21, 2009 12:24 AM GMT
yes, bit of an odd post.

charity begins AT HOME... not FROM HOME
Report sunderlandfan November 21, 2009 12:27 AM GMT
just think... if the BBC spared families the cost of the licence fee... how much more dosh families would have to spend on their poor little kiddies in NEED.... as opposed to lining the pockets of Jonathon WOSS and co...
Report towers21. November 21, 2009 12:27 AM GMT
agree sunderland

at least the money for this one stays in the country though

the situation in africa hasnt improved one jot in the 50 odds years (it seems!) of Live Aid etc .... suggest too many are taking their cut before (if it even does) it reaches those that need it

and the level of entertainment is crap
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 12:30 AM GMT
when you watch the documentaries, you see the money is going to great use, so as far as Children in Need is concerned i think its a great event
Report ballyregan job November 21, 2009 12:30 AM GMT

Report sunderlandfan November 21, 2009 12:32 AM GMT
people who think children in need is a great event = mugs in my opinion
Report sparkmaster. November 21, 2009 12:32 AM GMT
If the BBC didn;'t have the license fee it wouldn't exist, and the nation's greatest programmes, so popular with the viewers, wouldn't exist. And nor would this hugely successful event.
Report sparkmaster. November 21, 2009 12:32 AM GMT
'charity begins AT HOME... not FROM HOME'

What are you saying?
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 12:34 AM GMT
sparky

this is the guy who has just called me a mug for supporting a charity event, he's obviously not worth conversing with
Report sparkmaster. November 21, 2009 12:37 AM GMT
Well I wouldn't say all charity events are necessarily worthwhile, but if you're going to make a claim you need to back it up...before calling people mugs, of course.
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 12:38 AM GMT
well ofcourse, but im not saying that, i think its obvious w are discussing C I N which in my opinion is a good event, even if in most minds its not, still unnessesary for that
Report sunderlandfan November 21, 2009 12:42 AM GMT
if this country worked as it should... and tax revenue was alocated correctly... (just in the way household budgets are alocated throughout the land) then there would be no need to ask the public for charitable donations IMO
Report sparkmaster. November 21, 2009 12:42 AM GMT
Indeed, and judging by its success, there's little negativity towards it, just a bitter...and as you've rightly observed, unpleasant few.
Report sparkmaster. November 21, 2009 12:42 AM GMT
To Gary :-)
Report towers21. November 21, 2009 12:43 AM GMT
GB - whilst i dont doubt that Comic Relief do a great job, its worth nothing when the local militias come in and just take it from those who need it

agree with sunderalnd - we have helped the world for 20 odd years with these telethons - now we are in deep recession i wonder if Africa will do one for us! (joke!)
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 12:45 AM GMT
i understand the point being made, but as this is they way life is

if we dont give money to these C I N then it wont just make the BBC all of a sudden stop license fees will it, so thats why we should still do it
Report sparkmaster. November 21, 2009 12:46 AM GMT

I believe the continent of Africa has been in a perpetual state of war since ... well a long time before I was born

maybe naming a few african countries without militia would be quicker although not necesaary easier

I know these things are puke making but a quote from my four yeard old grandson.
My other daughter is pregnant and he heard them discussing it and he asked what they were talking about. She said "I might be having a baby"
He said:
"Or a lion"

Ah, I just thought that on the night of Children in Need your comment might have related to it, not an event some time ago.

Thanks for the abuse though.
