considering that they already squeeze £150 a year out of us in a licence fee.... which we have absolutely no choice in, whether we watch the crap that the BBC serve up of not... I think it's downright cheek for them to ask for even MORE dosh..

This is 2009... The BBC needs commercialising NOW!

just think... if the BBC spared families the cost of the licence fee... how much more dosh families would have to spend on their poor little kiddies in NEED.... as opposed to lining the pockets of Jonathon WOSS and co...

agree sunderland

at least the money for this one stays in the country though

the situation in africa hasnt improved one jot in the 50 odds years (it seems!) of Live Aid etc .... suggest too many are taking their cut before (if it even does) it reaches those that need it

and the level of entertainment is crap

when you watch the documentaries, you see the money is going to great use, so as far as Children in Need is concerned i think its a great event

people who think children in need is a great event = mugs in my opinion

If the BBC didn;'t have the license fee it wouldn't exist, and the nation's greatest programmes, so popular with the viewers, wouldn't exist. And nor would this hugely successful event.

'charity begins AT HOME... not FROM HOME'

What are you saying?

sparky

this is the guy who has just called me a mug for supporting a charity event, he's obviously not worth conversing with
By:
sparkmaster.
When: 21 Nov 09 00:37
Well I wouldn't say all charity events are necessarily worthwhile, but if you're going to make a claim you need to back it up...before calling people mugs, of course.
By:

When: 21 Nov 09 00:38
well ofcourse, but im not saying that, i think its obvious w are discussing C I N which in my opinion is a good event, even if in most minds its not, still unnessesary for that

if this country worked as it should... and tax revenue was alocated correctly... (just in the way household budgets are alocated throughout the land) then there would be no need to ask the public for charitable donations IMO

Indeed, and judging by its success, there's little negativity towards it, just a bitter...and as you've rightly observed, unpleasant few.

GB - whilst i dont doubt that Comic Relief do a great job, its worth nothing when the local militias come in and just take it from those who need it

agree with sunderalnd - we have helped the world for 20 odd years with these telethons - now we are in deep recession i wonder if Africa will do one for us! (joke!)

i understand the point being made, but as this is they way life is

if we dont give money to these C I N then it wont just make the BBC all of a sudden stop license fees will it, so thats why we should still do it

the local militias of...where?

I believe the continent of Africa has been in a perpetual state of war since ... well a long time before I was born

maybe naming a few african countries without militia would be quicker although not necesaary easier

I know these things are puke making but a quote from my four yeard old grandson.
My other daughter is pregnant and he heard them discussing it and he asked what they were talking about. She said "I might be having a baby"
He said:
"Or a lion"
