Hill St Blues and World at War, are 2 good calls.
I'd add Star Trek, Dead Like Me, Cracker, Futurama and Father Ted, as other examples of brilliantly made TV. |

Of the older ones - Sergeant Bilko/The Phil Silvers Show is the only one that has managed to retain its original brilliance. Spooky.
Callan (the recently late Edward Woodwood) is still nastily sinister. Hill Street Blues and Minder still hack it. Homicide - Life On The Streets is - maybe - the best cop series ever made. Deadwood was brilliant (so anti-theamericandream/mythology). The Shield, The Wire, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Dexter, House - why are the best series coming from the US now? We have so many highly paid people in the BBC - surely they must be doing something worthwhile? Apparently not. Kill 4 in 10 to encourage the others. |

best american comedy show of all time was
the larry sanders show... but as i said and someone else said.. the sopranos was the only drama seies that i found unmissable (didnt even like watching a recording in case ppl told me whathappened) and used to really look forward to the start of each new series.. sad end point.... i have still yet never watched the very last episode.. |
