What would it be. I'm not anti monarchist or anything, but I do find our national anthem pretty turgid. Jerusalem a bit religious, public school and gay imo.

Land of Hope and Glory would be the clichéd choice I suppose; significantly better than our current anthem for me, though.

I'm sure it would make a difference to the performance of english teams in sport if they had their arms round each others shoulders in the pre match rigmarole singing
"do you think I would leave you dying when there's room on my horse for two" instead of them all humming idly to send her victorious not knowing the words or what it means. |

The British National Anthem has always been the most diabolical dirge of any anthem.
It's about time it was scrapped. Land of Hope and Glory would be far more preferable, but then again, absolutely anything would be a better alternative. |

aussies are in the same predicament - their national anthem is awful. but waltzing matilda, not bad tbf, is their preferred version.
