i like nina simone, joni mitchell amongst others. I don't hardly know any modern singers tbh. You should know better than to make assumptions.

Shirley Bassey is simply awful imo.

I can only name one record by Nina Simone - I Got Life, and one by Joni Miitchell- Big Yello Taxi (?)

Mr Bojangles is an all time great song. Yet Nina's version is the best, by a distance, against some stiff competition imo. That is how good she is.

Basseys been in the business for over 50 years and has an army of fans.

I liked Dusty Springfields voice as well.
