Always an active actor, Woodward underwent triple bypass surgery in 1996 and quit smoking after two heart attacks. In February 2003 it was announced that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.[3] His hobbies have included sword collecting and gem polishing.

Remember seeing a documentary in recent years about him revisiting Wicker Man
locations, with Mark Kermode, after 30-odd years
He seemed to genuinely enjoy every minute of it
Report canaryboy November 16, 2009 11:53 AM GMT
never realised he was married to betty
Report HH Sultan Vinegar November 16, 2009 11:58 AM GMT
No doubt he would've endured a miserable period in the 70's with people shouting "oooh Betty"
at his wife.

Superb as Sgt Wellbeloved in "Stand Up, Virgin Soldiers", imo.

Uded to dash home from the pub (10-30 closing in those days) to see The Equaliser. A very good series.
Report charwell. November 16, 2009 11:23 PM GMT
Loved him in the Wicker Man and The Equalizer.

And you have to admire any man who gives a young, vivacious Britt Ekland the knock back. Hats off sir :) RIP
