Always an active actor, Woodward underwent triple bypass surgery in 1996 and quit smoking after two heart attacks. In February 2003 it was announced that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.[3] His hobbies have included sword collecting and gem polishing.

locations, with Mark Kermode, after 30-odd years

He was pretty good in that underrated BBC prog from the mid 90s 'Common As Muck'.

Good in Callan too.

I used to like the one he presented. Think it was called In Suspicious Circumstances.

Superb as Sgt Wellbeloved in "Stand Up, Virgin Soldiers", imo.

Very very sad new. He was a brilliant actor. Star of many theatre Classics and absolutely terrific in Callan. One of the greatest TV shows ever. Very sad news.

Loved him in the Wicker Man and The Equalizer.

And you have to admire any man who gives a young, vivacious Britt Ekland the knock back. Hats off sir :) RIP
