Grand National Day

Grand national day used to be on fa cup semi final day years ago or am I imagining it ?

no you're right, it used to be

They're not the same without the Grandstand music.

So now, I play the music before the sport starts on any given Saturday and then I find the day is much brighter.

You see, I am quite, quite mad ]:)

I remember being at Maine Rd for an FA Cup semi final in the late 70's.
Without checking I think it was against Man Utd and Rubstic won the National.

Close between FA cup 3rd round, which is a bit nippy and the opening day of the premier league season. normally lovely and warm and great for getting bladdered in the pub while watching the scores come in.

Grandstand used to be wonderful, except when they had to leave a crucial Test Match to go to the 3.00 at Haydock. Brilliant chapter in Marcus Berkmann's Rain Men sums it up.

I love the Saturday before Cheltenham, the winter nearing its end and lots to look forward to.

Cup final day when it started at 10am was great.. It's a knockout, On the coach with the players etc.
Now Cup Final day is like any other day so i have to say Grand National day
