Surely the, "late summer nights." are far, far, outweighed by the interminably long dark and dreary Autumn and Winter nights. :(

You can get all those by going there for a two week holiday in summer :-) |

Xmas is one thing i miss , they dont seem to do it properly down under.
Just dosent seem right having xmas in the middle of summer. I do actually miss the long winter nights too. Nothing better than being in a warm cornish pub with an open fire blazing in winter. Again it feels odd going out drinking in daylight |

english christmas good beer variety of food in tescos |

2 week holiday to the UK every summer not so cheap with 2 kids!
And yes - I will add snow at xmas to the list. BBQing a turkey by a pool is great, but it doesnt really feel like xmas. |

I've never heard of square sausage.

i miss variety of food in supermarkets
language family/friends range of things to do, places to see, never bored its not actually that cold in UK compared to other places as well, something we take for granted - US and mainland europe are far colder than UK TV :( ------ over here i get to eat out as much as i want for a few quid each time over here property is a lot cheaper |

Where are you Titan?

I know the UK has one of the warmest winters in the world, I don't complain about it
square sausage is a Scottish delicacy |

I miss:
The English countryside Variety and choice of supermarkets The pubs Autumn Family/Friends I dont miss: Loads of rain Gloomy grey skies Concrete jungles ** element of society. |

The Snake 15 Nov 11:10 I miss: The English countryside Variety and choice of supermarkets The pubs Autumn Family/Friends do other countries lack supermarkets? |
|
By:
Australia only really has Coles and Woolworks and a few Aldi stores. These stores have a monopoly so the prices are not as good as they could be. The choice ok, but not a good as UK supermarkets.
How many have UK got? about 8 supermarket chains? Huge selection and great prices as there is a lot of competition. Great for the consumer |
|
By:
I see, cool, am not one of those moaners about the UK, I think it's great here
would never move out When I go on holiday abroad, and I go to their supermarkets, I often find the meat, fruit and vegetables look terrible |
|
By:
Square sausage is magnificent from a real butcher, not those **ey prepacked ones, which stay pink.

I like reading these threads ,but isn't a country great/better according to your own circumstances ?
I n other words ,if youre a shelf stacker in London ,a move to highly paid exciting job in Spain would always make that country seem a lot better ? |
|
By:
am not sure if that example is applicable?
you can say another country is better cos of the weather? anyway I like it here in the united kingdom, it's a great country I could never ever move to USA cos Betfair is banned there which makes it one of the worst countries in the world to live in |
|
By:
you can say another country is better cos of the weather?
_______________________________ depends on the type of weather you like though ;) Darker evenings in winter makes for better betting ,easier to concentrate and more proftable imo ...warm ,light evenings in summer are too distracting |
|

I have lived in three different countries and been to many more and I have to say that Britian is the most over rated place in Europe.

I was in Paris once, bought a copy of the "Sun" in a kiosk, guy behind counter laughed at me..........honest
certainly won't be living in france right enough |
|
By:
Spain not much better
but actually what comes to my mind is Lanzarote, they were incredibly nice to me there, they are very nice people there might live there one day! |
|
By:
english supermarkets - tescos and waitrose inparticular - are excellent.
difficult to find that in other countries (tescos in korea for example dont sell much other than noodles). |
|
By:
English supermarkets are no better than say the Deen or Dekamarkt that you'd find in Holland or the (french) Careforre which I now use in Spain.
|
|
By:
the supermarket I went to in france was pish, it didn't sell fags
oh come on! |

english supermarkets - tescos and waitrose inparticular - are excellent. :^0 The only good thing about Tescos is it keeps the scúm out of Waitrose. |
|
By:
they dont have 24 hour garages either
I mean, from where I'm sitting, I can think of 3 establishments within 20mins walk that sell fags 24hours a day In Paris, no-where sold them, pathetic |
|
By:
