By:
lmao i think im immune to alcohol now , cider never seems to affect me
By:
may I ask how old you are?
By:
mustard is fine but wouldn't agree with apple sauce to go with savoury food
? It's an absoloute classic, obviously don't sweeten it (maybe a tad if a very tart cooker or the like). But Pork and Apples (pigs in orchards), gammon and pineapple, sausages and cider cream sauce, it's a no-brainer. |

Punter you're spot on,mint ,apple, horseradish ruins the lot,who said they accompany these foods-was it in the bible?do they put strawberry jam on their ***** agree, I don't get that either, I've never liked the idea of fruit going with meat, of course don't get me wrong, I love fruit, only by itself though there's this new fashion of having lemon or orange zest to go with meat, what's all that about? really ruins the meal I once had a lovely bit of chicken served to me in a restaurant, only to find out it was ruined by bits of orange skin I saw on top of it! am 29 ladycakes, but thinking about my life now.........think i should cut down on the excessive bevvying I have been doing for the past 12 years :( |

roast beef
yorkshire pudding roast potatoes and parsnips carrots spring greens and peas horseradish sauce an optional extra guiness |
By:
aww sod that punter still too young to stop all that yet
By:
clarkson, seeing as you're 39, perhaps the palate on the tongue is dulled, and probably needs fruit to make the dinner more livelier
:) |
By:
I dunno ladycakes, i drink 1 bottle of wine and 4 litres of cider every day
and recently I have felt pains inside me, it's worrying me |
By:
curious-cat...............sounds excellent!, just as long as horse-radish sauce is just an option!
By:
maybe,
I like fish now and tomatoes, couldn't stand them when i was little, maybe the same with beer and wine.? |
By:
You can keep your citrus fruits, although orange works well with pork and duck, but proper horseradish and mustard can really enhance a dish, mint sauce can cut through the fat in lamb and improve taste and apple sauce is the badger with a mouthful of succulent pork and a bit of a roasty.
By:
I couldn't stand garden peas and loved processed peas when I was younger
now it has switched around at my age |
By:
ok to be honest with you clarkson, am not a conniseur when it comes to meat.
I live by myself at the moment and never cook proper meat for myself, it's always bird's eye chicken etc which makes me really look forward to xmas dinner at my folks once a year so am not the best person to talk to regarding accompaniments to meat, especially stuff like duck et al |
By:
god that is a lot punter i only really drink at weekends!!
By:
i know it is
so am hoping to cut the alcohol down to your level! just drink at the weekend? pah! |

Get yourself a nice rib-eye steak and a jar of bearnaise sauce PF with some *****and a few peas or a nice green salad. or a nice chicken breast on the bone with a bit of mash , cabbage and some gravy.
By:
a jar of bearnaise sauce.....never heard of it
as for rib-eye steak, I always order my steak rare in a gastro-pub can I just cook it for 30 seconds on a hot pan on each side? |
By:
Yep, as simple as that, bearnaise sauce is like a hollandaise sauce with a bit of tarragon, awesome with steak.
By:
how do you like your steak?
By:
Medium rare.
Used to like it rare, but in some of the more posher gaffs they think that means cold and blue, eurgh.!!! |
By:
more posher- is that correct English.?
By:
Rice and Chicken Fillets
By:
I would call a more posher gaff an "elite" gaff
however I have been hearing the word blue lately? what's all that about? steak is red?? rare is best, the rarer it is, the tastier it is, that's why lions enjoy eating raw meat |
By:
Blue, is one notch below rare, that's what I was talking about, it's normally close to cold and raw, not nice.
By:
I haven't tried it cold
I just had a rare steak 2 weeks ago in Dundee, it was warm enough I've never had an extreme rare steak? |
By:
I like bloody juices on the plate to mop up with my ***** but the steak has to be at least warm in the middle.
By:
yes that how it should be, dipping *****in the blood, I love it, completely natural
not fruit sauces ;) |
By:
yuck i only eat meat well done , hate looking at blood in it
By:
nae flavour in meat well done
By:
mushrooms, brocolli and pasta in a stilton cream sauce, with a baguette.
By:
sounds excellent sparkmaster
stilton, the cheese of the south |
By:
i don't really like fruit full stop. horse radish not too bad with beef, nor mint saue with lamb. apple and pork is just wrong, whereas duck with orange is not such a bad combo
