Not usually, ew, just today I feel lucky. Can you take out a life insurance policy with me as the benefactor, I'll pay you back tomorrow.
|
|
By:
apparantly not ew - one is a translation and the other is an old english word
it is just a coincidence :) devil, the English translation of a Greek word (diabolos) meaning accuser or slanderer, used in the Septuagint to translate the Hebrew Satan and in the nt as a virtual synonym for the same term. In the kjv, it is also regularly employed as a translation of another Greek word (daimon), which, however, in the rsv is transliterated as demon. The idea that Satan was an angel put out of heaven because of his rebellion against God and his desire to assume the prerogatives of divinity seems to be reflected in Luke 10:18. Jesus ability to expel the demons who were Satans minions was understood to be the result of his having conquered and bound Satan (see Mark 3:27) The word "evil" Some non-religious people and humanists avoid using the word "evil" because they associate it with religious texts and rules and punishments, or assume that it derives from the word "devil". The word certainly crops up a lot in the Bible, but in fact it predates the first English translations of the Bible. "Evil" comes from the Old English "yfel" and has no etymological connection with the religious word "devil", which started life as the Old English word "deoful" (Concise Oxford Dictionary). |

has anybody ever noticed that the devil is spelt nearly the same as evil , anything in that?
This is the sort of educational discovery that makes looking at chit chat worthwhile. I will be phoning the relevant authorities at Oxbridge to draw their attention to this. |

The very concept of sin comes from the bible. Christianity offers to solve a problem of its own making! Would you be thankful to a person who cut you with a knife in order to sell you a bandage?

the greatest trick the devil ever pulled is convincing the world he doesnt exist
god = dog dog=K9 or (11/9) thus god = dog 9/11 =11/9 therefore 9/11 = god |
