If it does not play the dvd, you have probably got autorun turned off.
If it does not even recognise there is a dvd in the drive (or even that there is a dvd drive) then see upthread. |

I have an Acer too, 70% of the time doesn't notice there's a DVD in there at all, 30% of the time works fine.
