thinly veiled "i'm asking for trouble" thread imo.

I always go to the Continental, very cheap, great location, clean enough. It aint the ritz but does the job, great little coffee shop in the lane alongside.

crowne plaza ok , it near the station.

However for a lads weekend i dont think the two mentioned may be what your looking for.
There are plenty of low end hotels around that wiill do the job just as well , basically you just need a room with a bed

I was on about the hotel-continental not the inter continental.
hotel continental is pretty low end at 34€ per night.

34 euros is good.
Im staying at a seaside resort next spring ( Noordwijk an zee ) and cheapest there were around fifty euros with anything decent being around eighty minimum

Hotel Krasnopolsky...quite a nice joint and bang in the centre of town.

check out the American Hotel (part of the Eden chain) - good location & classy establishment.

Tell your son to get to the National Gallery(that's the one in Trafalgar Square) from Wednesday 18th November to get a taste of something to look forward to on his visit to Amsterdam.

his first holiday without his parents, he's hardly gonna be visiting art galleries imo.

Sex Museum is ok if he wants culture, it will also break it to him gently that when he enters the red light district he will see pictures of women having sex with hors.es while eating excrement staring out at you from the window. I suggest he does knocking shops before the coffee shops. Otherwise he won't be bothered and it would be a wasted trip.
