these also dont like lots of on off action, if you put em on, leave em on, turning them off when you leave the room to save energy will cost you more in bulbs in the long run, obviousy knock them off at bedtime :) have'nt heard of dimmers affecting them tho.

I have a fitting which uses 2 of these, getting arsed off with changing them when they both blow about once a month.
They're supposed to last 10 years FFS.
I now buy them from Tescos on a BOGOF for about £1 each.

Coach,I have a friend who owns a hotel and they have about 30 of these fittings(2 lamps in each),you definitely have to use the small bit of foam or paper that comes with them when installing, also some of theirs are on a special"soft start" dimmer(made by MK) which always switches them up to the set brightness slowly and these ones seem to last longer.Lastly you can get low wattage G9 lamps here http://www.lyco.co.uk/Light-Bulbs/Energy-Saving-Bulbs/sc1296/p6285.aspx?gclid=CJTWwKPOg54CFWlr4wodnUANqQ
