Quite tough imo, but maybe not for everyone ;)

1) Which is the only US state to have territory completely surrounded by other states?

2) Which historical figure is James Fenimore Cooper's Last of the Mohicans apparently based on?

3) Guthrie was formerly the capital of which US state?

Report positively4thsteet November 8, 2009 5:38 PM GMT
don't quite get q1. surely they all have territory completely surrounded by other states, except alaska and hawaii
Report punterfleecer November 8, 2009 5:39 PM GMT
coastal states wont be completely sorrounded by other states
Report positively4thsteet November 8, 2009 5:40 PM GMT
but there is more than one state that is non-coastal surely

About 12 or 13 IMO even if you discount those on the Canadian & Mexican borders + those bordering the lakes.
Report Dark Destroyer November 8, 2009 5:42 PM GMT
Or are we also discounting those states bordered by rivers at some point?
Report punterfleecer November 8, 2009 5:45 PM GMT
dunno, shame betfair is banned in the usa, shocking
Report panglima November 8, 2009 5:45 PM GMT
It is a badly worded question but the answer is Kentucky, look up the kentucky bend
Report Easter 1916 November 8, 2009 5:46 PM GMT
four states are actually commonwealths so any bordering kentucky, massachusetts, pennsylvania and virginia should be discounted.
Report Fenway November 8, 2009 5:46 PM GMT
I would have guessed Nebraska
Report sparkmaster. November 8, 2009 5:46 PM GMT
oddly enough, I'd just arrived there on wiki - quite interesting.
Report Hank Hill November 8, 2009 5:47 PM GMT
Sorry, to clarify Q1 there is 1 state that has a piece of it's land that can only be accessed by entering from a surrounded state and not through the state it belongs to
Report Easter 1916 November 8, 2009 5:47 PM GMT
vg kentuckians. never heard of it.
Report Fenway November 8, 2009 5:48 PM GMT
That is even less comprehensible to me :)

2. Think 'Hawkeye' was Dan'l Boone. Not sure about Chingachcook :(
Report Fenway November 8, 2009 5:49 PM GMT
And which is the oldest ballpark in the USA?
Report Easter 1916 November 8, 2009 5:49 PM GMT
fenway?
Report sparkmaster. November 8, 2009 5:49 PM GMT
I read ages ago that Chicago derives from Chingachgook, no idea if that's true.

No idea 'bout the state capital. And what is it with the fascination with them in these quizzes on 'ere! :D
Report Easter 1916 November 8, 2009 5:50 PM GMT
3 is oklahoma
Report Fenway November 8, 2009 5:53 PM GMT
Easter that is the correct answer, certainly the oldest Major League ballpark. The oldest professional ballpark is Rickwood Field in Birminghham Alabama, but I did mean Fenway Park.
Report positively4thsteet November 8, 2009 5:54 PM GMT
interesting, i didn't know that about the kentucky bend.
Report Easter 1916 November 8, 2009 5:56 PM GMT
two years older than wrigley field apparently. i' ll get to fenway some day but i can't imagine it being as good as the friendly confines. still, i'd rather listen to sweet caroline than go cu** go anyday!
Report Hank Hill November 8, 2009 5:57 PM GMT
what's the connection between Austin, Texas and Abba??
Report Fenway November 8, 2009 5:58 PM GMT
Easter, I've been to Wrigley as well, they are both wonderful places, full of atmosphere. Mind you, if you are over 5'9, the seats at Fenway are very uncomfortable.
Report Paddy Mayne November 8, 2009 5:59 PM GMT
Sorry Hank.. can't imagine! :)
Report Easter 1916 November 8, 2009 6:01 PM GMT
I love Wrigley even tho I'm a Brewers fan. Cubs fans are annoying tho. As a total Yankee-hater I definitely have a soft spot for the RedSox and would love to go to Fenway Park.
