high class monsters are only allowed |

I think it gets to the stage where you can't compare them with each other - they all did amazing things on their best days.
By:
Warning's debut would have been 1987
suprised it was at Salisbury tbh :) |
By:
it was, undercut was in a conditions race soon after.
i dont lie, years are all the same...... gl mr v just watching R williams and not the rex, the guy is obliviously struggling .... |
By:
Anybody remember those Guy Harwood horses - Assatis, Allez Milord...? Somebody on the racing forum met Guy Harwood on the train and he pretended he'd forgotten about all those horses...probably couldn't be bothered to talk.
By:
mr harwood has a history of running his best orses at sals, it was 86/87 , i can t be bothered to even recall it alll.
BUt my mate harwood loves the lushness on the sals track. |
By:
I remember being at Sandown when Warning was supposed to win (at Haydock?) - lots of drunk confident people moving around - who I opposed - and subsequently hated.
By:
Mr.Sonko, I think he left his life of hoss-drudgery to sell range rovers to people in Berkshire.
By:
Cacoethes or something like that won
Il De Chypre , sonic etc.... I am not a fighter |
By:
Warning was nearly black, wasn't he? But the hoss crowd never say that - they say he's "dark bay" or something like that.
By:
oi mr v
i have always wanted a big silver arsed discovery I live in newbury & dont need a badger basher, but i love the squareness etc |
By:
I vaguely remember Undercut
Assatis i recall very well Won the Hardwicke in 1989 SP 4/11 Won it again in 1990 SP 66/1! |
By:
warning was black, the experts called it different.
but Undercut was a chestnut with lovely socks..... |
By:
Mr.Sonko - it's taken me all this time to realize yer as p1ssed as a fart! I hereby claim that Zarkava's literal form over Goldikova is writ in stone.
GOOD NIGHT! |
By:
I think he beat Old Vic at Ascot...which partly explains the mad odds.
By:
im tipsy but that is a rassh call imo
By:
Belmez ?
By:
Amazing what you can find on yootoob.
Really good 10 min documentary about Dayjur. All good stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7FBayh5TJQ&feature=related |
By:
yeah i think he was , quite a few horses look black to me , but only about 0.02 % are according to the experts
By:
Hey.
By:
its the white feet for me......
By:
yes Old Vic was fav for the Hardwicke that year , and Carroll House was in it
By:
long time ago i was told about 2 amd 2 two times, they were belmez & old vic were the best horses at warren place.
I remember one of them winning at 50/1 ? didnt they ??? |
By:
There ain't no more, you've taken everything...
By:
OI vel
don't ever accuse me of being drunk, in the last 6 months i had been accused by a neighbour abt being drunk and loud. Told them i had not drank in in 6 months. The *anker thought he could pressure me with a law. |
By:
Both Old Vic & Belmez were Sheikh Mohammed horses.
OV was the stable darling (he got the star on the cap), but Belmez was no mug. Won the King George at Ascot about 12/1 iirc. :) |
By:
Yeah - Belmez on his debut, 50/1--- a great race against Vic in the King George. A brutal race. Those Sheikh Mo colours are badly missed.
By:
He was backed from 12/1 into...13/2 SP? Somebody KNEW!
By:
why was Belmez 50/1 in a maiden? :0
Cecil took Old Vic out of The Derby cause he thought he wasn't good enough didn't he? |
By:
I was on at 12's :)
Not in the know Vel, I was about 17 at the time! |
By:
gvg
me 12 won 1972 ? |
By:
He went to France and got a higher rating than Nashwan at year's end. Cecil must have had another runner or two in that maiden.
By:
although having said that, maybe the Sheikh decided to send him to France because he had Warrsan and Pirate Army for Epsom.
By:
tobe i remember that, blemez won his first race at 50/1
crazy stuff |
By:
Ibrahima Sonko 08 Nov 01:59
gvg me 12 won 1972 ? ------------------------------------------------- ? Sonko Me six 1971 |
By:
another one of Cecil's from that time was Spritsail
and also Salse who was a very nice horse, not quite as good as Warning though |
By:
Crikey...Pirate Army...didn't he win a derby trial by about 12 lengths??
By:
Salse was a bit of a 7F specialist, I think...didn't he give Warning a fright one time? You lads are really digging them up now.
By:
I always remember as a young teen going in the bookies 20 years ago and punters talking about Sheikh Mohammed & the Derby.
Apart from Godolphin, he never won it in the maroon & white sleeves? |
By:
i think he might have won something by a long way - and was shorter than Nashwan for The Derby in May - but got beat by Cacoethes at Lingfield.
