It's very contagious, but is killing fewer people than seasonal flu. However, seasonal flu kills mainly very old people, while this is killing youngsters.
I've spent a few hours reading up on the internet on H5N1 bird flu today, which appears to have dropped off the news radar. It's a potential monster, with the potential to be bigger than the 1918 Spanish flu. It kills 60% of people it infects, compared with 3% for Spanish flu and has been mutating in animal hosts faster than the experts predicted. The more species it infects and the longer it mutates, the more likely it will become a global pandemic. I watched an internet video lecture on it today, and it was some reality check. H5N1 is the big one. Pig flu is just a side show. |

Discipline - Ukraine hadn't really prepared for the situation and most people were not going to doctor's with symptoms. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Floccinaucinihilipilification
ˌflɒksɪˌnɔːsɪˌnɪhɪlɪˌpɪlɪfɪˈkeɪʃ(ə)n/ nounrare noun: floccinaucinihilipilification the action or habit of estimating something as worthless. --- A real word, well I never. Totally never heard of it. So rare and so little understood, surprised arch prentious t*sser Will Self hasn't used it on question time! |
