Despite selling major currencies 10% below spot rate, people still leave it to the last minute and allow these cowboys to Rip them off. All these 0% Commission posters plastered everywhere when they are creaming the rate big time. Misleading information or what ?!

2 weeks ago they were selling it at 0.98 and buying it at 1.1999.....and some of the crap the cashiers were spouting " The best deal you will get in UK " . Total cnuts

Travelex are good you can pre order at near enough spot rate online and then collect at LGW. The other lot Moneycorp might as well make Dick Turpin masks part of their dire uniform.

I guess it's people coming back from destinations with surplus euros easier to change there than arsing about going to a bank.
Report Just Checking • November 5, 2016 9:14 PM GMT
I normally have Euros anyway and use the ATMs abroad.
While we're on the subject, when given the option abroad ALWAYS chose local currency. ALWAYS.
That way your bank will do the transaction at the market rate. If you chose it in pounds, THEIR bank will do it at the rate they chose, and often pocket a nice healthy (for them) profit.

Was it though? Are you going to get what you thought you were voting for?

We are not going to get Merkel's new model army coming here in a few years, that is worth paying for.

You get a pretty good rate from cash converter type shops as well, but the best piece of advice I was given
is to get a Halifax Clarity Credit Card.
You get charged at the official rate, and there is no commission.
Report Just Checking • November 6, 2016 1:19 PM GMT
I think you can load up a card with actual Euros that you can pick up at the post office to avoid commission, I've thought about it.
