I can remember so many years when Cheltenham was soft on March 1 and pundits were looking for soft ground horses. Then we had drying winds for 2 weeks and they were watering. Time of year innit.

Nope .... something I,ve never considered,if the COC aint got a scooby,we have no chance was my thinking.
I can remember the walk many times from the muddy field in the 90's they called a car park.
Me and my dad would be testing underfoot conditions on the way to the entrance, hilarious when I think back.
Did not take too many festivals to realise why the JCB's were already parked up on the tuesday.
TBH .... In those times I would have swam the car park if required, such was the anticipation of the three days.
What about yourself?

Yes I have bet on the going on a few occasions in foot and mouth year I backed heavy at 40/1 if racing had took place it would have been heavy ,however the reason I asked you was a few years ago now there was a few of us who backed good around 3 weeks before the festival at around about 7/1 some had quite lumpy bets ,anyway the official going for the supreme was good to soft but was changed to good for the arkle ,time form had the supreme ran on good,I haven’t bothered since .
The 90s were a terrific decade for the festival whilst I started in 1980 it was the 90s that stood out ,not necessarily for the horses but for as you say the anticipation, perhaps I was at the right age then and the party time was much easier .i wasn’t against 4 days but would probably choose to go back to 3

Another warm drying weather weekend and yet G/S and soft in places on the new course. He's ran riot with his watering can I reckon. I live not far from the course and there's no doubt it wood be good ground if he'd left it alone. We now have some showers forecast for today and cooler temperatures/frosty nights. I notice he hasn't clarified how much he has put from his watering can on each course on the official going page so how are we supposed to know? https://www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/cheltenham/owners-and-trainers/the-going/

Thanks update FOD ... Always good to hear it from someone local, keep them coming.
No numbers either for reduced ticket sales ... no doubt waiting for daily foot traffic to boost the attendance.
