Rather than depend on the Met Office or God forbid the BBC can people close to the Course post what's happening weather-wise there on an ongoing basis till Tuesday...I'm sure many would be appreciative
One thing it is chaps is it's cold. In addition we have had some light rain/sleet this morning.
Because of the air temperature, this "should" prevent the clerk from watering.
I live around 5 miles (westerly) from the course

Given the forecast for the entire Festival I think the going will be soft to begin with and probably get progressively softer throughout. The Irish horses - not that they need further assistance given their ability - will be aided further, I think.

Not necessarily so you need some serious rain thro the meet for that to be the case. Last couple of races on Wednesday last year ran on heavy but less than 48 hours later you have the triumph on gd to soft

Won't be abandoned impossible - glorious here this morning and temperatures set to rise.
what has surprised me is that the surface water has mostly evaporated although it didn't feel that warm walking Mutley this morning.

The temperatures for the next few days are set to rise with Tuesday and Wednesday being "normal" March numbers. If there is little or no rain it wouldn't surprise me if he watered the new course ahead of the final two days.
The course drains overly well and with a bit of warm air - feck me it could be at worst good-soft.
Back to today it has rained in the last couple of hours but not a significant amount, but it ain't shirt sleeve weather

Claisse was class. His biggest problems were the media , the public and mostly the BHA . If the bha wanted good and there was a deluge the night before he would have good in the going description by lunchtime. He had all the drains relaid in the cross country and fences moved nearer hedges and trees, what was a bog six months of the year round suddenly came up much dryer. He had a geyser there who knew where to put the going stick for the right reasons. What he organised a couple of years back for the Irish contigent during Covid was unbelievable. He took ground maintenance to a new level and wanted parts of the course churned up and relaid because of reverse cambers, he told the bha time and time again until he got the golden handshake. Fair play to him, the new man has got a lot to live up to.

For some reason the Sporting Life result page for the 2018 Supreme says Soft, heavy in places and even Timeform show it as just soft - both are incorrect.
It was 100% definitely officially 'Heavy, soft in places' (so heavy was the winner for betting purposes).https://www.express.co.uk/sport/horseracing/931514/Cheltenham-2018-going-Day-two-conditions-Ladies-Day-ground-changehttps://www.theguardian.com/s

Hi I'm 20 mins walk from the course and confirm there was quite a drop of rain overnight. Not too hard but sustained. I see the official racecourse page is showing soft all round on the old course and that feels about right. Not much rain this year though so I suspect unless more rain it should drain away with a low water table. Some unsettled weather on Wednesday but not sure if it'll be too heavy. Tomorrow will almost certainly be soft though.
