decided to stay amateur, and miss this years festival.

Don't really understand the decision.
Very unlikely to get a better book of rides and if he was able to switch his status back again what had he got to lose? I was certainly hoping he would ride Melon in the Ryanair. |

drummer he would not be allowed to amateur status for 12 months, if he rode 25 winners he would not be allowed back, thats one winner a fortnight for daddy. also he s a big lad so weight would be a negative.on top of that i dont think he rides cheltenham very well. not a great record for the amount of fancied mounts he has had there.

I had heard about the 25 wins, but the information I heard was that he could return a lot quicker than 12 months. If that is correct then it makes more sense.

Of coarse he'll be there and he'll probably do a bit of fitzgeralding on one of the channels.
