ok the dust is starting to settle and the general consensus is that the race fell apart and that it was a poor champion chase this year ,a lot of ifs buts maybes but the best horse won on the day and looking through the field in the ante post list it could be more of the same next year .
lets look at what is likely to actually line up in the race ....we will start with altior he will be an 11 yo and is he the same horse after that titanic battle with cyrname ? i think he may be stepped up in trip and go for the ryanaire whatever he has questions to answer now , fav is chacan su pour ,undoubtably talented but as fragile as a box of eggs ,around 6/1 i dont think i would take that for him to make the race ,defi du seul ,another more likely to step up in trip ,fakir d,oudaries also looks to me to need further dynamite dollars also may be better over further ,the arkle winner put the kettle on is interesting and a decent price at around 20s she gets the 7 pound allowance if going here and is a good jumper and game the course form is a big plus . the one who really appeals and who i have been backing since last wednesday is reigning champ politologue at a stonking 20s on here .

just watched nube negras last win he had it won 3 out barring mishaps, a decent jumper of a fence .getting the urge to go in again .
Good shout Foyles, only 5 possible winners. CPS, Altior, Nube, Politologue and First Flow.

yeah hibore chacan the one to beat on ratings and what we have seen so far but we dont know if chelt will suit ,i suspect he will be fine tho ,nuba and chacan both strong travellers both lightly raced and both possibly open to more improvement at the prices nubra appeals more to me ,first flow also on the up and could be more to come .
Yes Foyles, both Nube and First Flow are both on the rise and now boast 165/166 ratings but look like could nudge closer to the magic 170+ needed to win the majority of Champion chases. CPS 174 to me looks the real deal and add in Altior and Politologue both around 170 and you have got yourself a race.
Rouge Vif seemed to improve considerably first time up when bolting in off 156 on good ground and is now 163. He’s the best long shot @25/1 if the ground isn’t too bad.
The others Greenateen 161 Pull the other one 154 and Fakir D 161 need to find a stone from somewhere and should perhaps turn their attention to the handicaps.

I didn’t realise that she was losing badly on purpose last time. Chancun made her look like a selling plater.
155 is her best ever rating at Cheltenham + 7lbs = 162. That’s Greenateen no better. Maybe they have been cheating like Byrne ?

Nicky Henderson has been fined £40,000 and is unable to make entries for three months over the Moonlit Path case.
The leading National Hunt trainer was last Monday found guilty of using a prohibited substance to improve the performance of The Queen's mare at Huntingdon in February.
Henderson attended a personal hearing on Thursday evening, when pleas of mitigation were entered to a British Horseracing Authority panel, and learned of his punishment on Friday morning.
The 58-year-old handler faced a possible disqualification from the training ranks, but will instead be unable to run any of his horses from July 11 to October 10.
He has also been hit with a record fine imposed on any British trainer.

duffy,buddeleia,harry callaghan or anyone else who has an opinion ! what did you think of nubra negra at kempton ? what am i missing here ? absolutly pisshes up in a grade 2 and one of only 2 horses to beat a dual champ chase winner in altior over fences , very rarely do you see a graded race winner having the race won from before 3 out barring mishaps ,he hosed up ! i would advise anyone to watch the race again, it was if not a fluke a sensational performance and although i am not a time guru the time looked good ,did all his opponents underperform and make him look good ? i go by my eyes and to me it was a very good performance in a race of that class , maybe altior has rapidly regressed ,i am wrong more than i am right and possibly wrong here but i have gone in balls deep each way on this fella and will continue to ,anyone give me good reasons not to? thank you .

We all know, well suspect anyway that not all the shorties will go in, if I had to pick my one to get beat it would be CPS.
cheers duffy yes just heard the podcast ,my thinking is that if chacan had done what nubre did to altior the media would be hailing him a world beater (he may be)and he may do that to altior and the rest in the champ but to me he has a race on his hands nubre is a serious contender on that showing and at 12/1 i will keep hammering away !

The undulations, a long busting race and although he was good last time after the last, I wonder if he will be again with those added ingredients to deal with.

I was not that impressed with the race to be honest. Altior was nothing like the horse he has been and i cannot sadly see him ever getting back now, hope I am wrong.
Shishkin would have P1ssed that race had he been in it I feel.
The one I would be on each way if ground was good/soft or better would be Rouge Vic, he hated that ground.
Nube Negra may run a good race if ground is soft , but I don’t think the Kempton race was ChampionnChase class.
However, after all that, take the fav out it’s wide open, and I don’t think he’s as solid as his price suggests.

I would supplement Allmankind for this one as I think the Arkle is the tougher option of the two. It wouldn’t matter to Allmankind which race he is in. The uncomplicated tactics and his race time would be the same. If the Skeltons stick with Nube Negra as sole contender in the QM I’d back that one at the prices as I don’t think CPS jumping will be good around Cheltenham, though I don’t envisage him toiling up the hill.

I think you forgot to include the 3 x Gold Cup hero Al Boum Photo for Mullins
not sure nube negra needs it soft bud ,good to soft be fine i think ,in fact his kempton win on "soft" 5 of the 7 races run that day the times were above standard his by 10 secs , the time gurus on here will know more about this than me but it seems quick for soft ground imo ,anyway also on that card royal pagaile won the 3m chase also around 10 secs or so above standard and he may not need the gold cup going to be as heavy ground dependant as some think .
CPS has never run at Cheltenham; Kemboy and CDO hate Cheltenham; ABP beat slow boats like Santini and Anibale Fly. But, I hope ABP wins as he's financially rewarding.

Very very happy with my position, Put the Kettle On beat politilogue last year over most of the last six on times, and the pair of them will be going at it as they start the circuit away from the stands. There will be a battle for the rail which may well be settled coming down the hill. I expect chacon to turn up on the bridle off the bend, and more expectantly would be great to see Altior coming as well. Love to see Altior win it again in the heart but not in the pocket. Skeltons will be doing its best but Ptko gets away quickly from the last and chacon blows it, but here comes Altior ..... I am on the mare each way from 25s down to 14s and nothing would suit me better than a head bobber between the two of them. Festival dreams eh ?

you could be right regarding altior gone at the game ,a lot of pundits also think he has regressed , but looking at it another way,what if he has not regressed that much and was simply put in his place by a vastly improved younger horse , i have taken the view that he was and took the 12/1 each way a while back for what is my biggest bet of the festival ,very rarely do you see a graded race won barring a fall 3 out and that was what the skelton horse did ,may have been a fluke or altior has indeed gone and i may have got this completly wrong ,often do and will pay through my pocket if i have but happy with the bet atm.

Agree six, there is often a dodgy one, you never really know, new mill s race was only won on the ground, dodging bullets beating somersby jesus, and last years very poor.
Champion Chase and the Arkle are regularly the losers of the 4 day festival., especially when it comes to field size. Next year’s CC I hope will be different looking at the novices. I’ll be putting the kettle on this year.
