Philip Hobbs needs ........ to retire.
Bonkers decision to run Britain’s top 2 & 1/2 mile staying novice in the 3 mile Albert Bartlett. |
By:
I think he had the carrots a few years ago.
By:
Yep he certainly created far more interest in what he hinted but didnt say and just bagged it up in "COINCIDENCE" bracket
By:
what did he hint geoff?
By:
No doubt in my mind what he meant. Three Irish jockeys made sure that Thyme Hill could not win before fighting it out between them. It was as blatant a plan as I have seen for years and it worked. You could argue that Johnson should have seen it coming but he was entitled to come to the stands side where they murdered him before and after the last. Best horse finished fourth, no question. No excuses for Sporting John or Defi though.
By:
If Thyme hill was good enough he would have won.
By:
Really? If he had the tactical speed to have gone clear after the second last I agree but he didn't have any chance to accelerate between a furlong before the the last flight and the line as he was repeatedly obstructed by one of the other three.

By:
Hobbs had willies best bumper horse panic attack, the day she moved was the day to start laying as it proved.

Pipe now has Panic Attack.

Sageform you are way over the top here. Planned in advance??? 4 top jocks fighting out a finish(does it matter what nationality they are?) and no quarter given which is exactly as it should be.
Cooper got to the rail first and wasn't giving it up to anybody.Thyme Hill may or may not have been an unlucky loser but if Dicky had been in the front line of 3 he would have done exactly the same, ie shut as many doors around him as much as the rules will allow. Had any of the first 3 wilted on the run in he could have squeezed through but as it happened they all found plenty. Nothing whatsoever to see here never mind some half-baked conspiracy theory of a combined Irish attempt to stitch up an Englishman. |

Bit of pocket talking
Going on...... .... on this forum now |
By:
Thought at the time Dickie rode a bad race, still think that.
By:
sorry foyles for late reply .He mad a comment and was pressed by Lydia(evey fcker else would have let it drop) so good on her and repleid something to the effect isnt it a coincidence that majority of the races are being won by 3 trainers.
take it as yer will, but to me he didnt seem too happy a bunny and gave impression "things where going on "shall we say that he didnt want to elaborate on anymore. That was my take anyway. |
By:
as Somerset Sam indicated in his initial post.
By:
That would be the undetectable
drug from australia That the irish are on no doubt |
By:
Did one of Hobbs horses fail a drugs test 3 years ago at Ludlow?
By:
its just that the henderson, elliot and mullins horses are all geared to end of season festivals, they dont really care if they get beat early in season and in some cases if the horse is high enough in handicap to get in cheltenham races they probally wont win and if they need to rise in handicap they will probally win or run well

For me the underlying cause is the uk
Being too p c Over here we dont have the issues You make on horse welfare Health and safety of employees in the racing industry Restrictions from the bha Its over done and the poor feckers trying To keep everything whiter than white Instead of getting the horse home first Nice ideal yes, but in reality bolox |

I know Philip Hobbs quite well and I have never seen him so angry as he was after that race. It has nothing to do with magic carrots and everything with race riding. Townend got a 2 day suspension for that by the way. Johnson might still have won after the first interference but Davy then shut the door again after the last. Call it race riding if you like but I know what happened. Aiden's army do the same on the flat and target the main danger at every opportunity.
By:
irishone, if it is acceptable in Ireland then that is fine. If they had done the same in almost any other country apart from Ireland or GB both Townend and Russell would have lengthy bans and would be disqualified.
By:
I knew a jockey once hit the gold cup winner over the permitted number of times , got the ban , cheated blatantly but still won the race.
His name was richard johnson as well funnily enough. |
By:
Two wrongs.... I know it is a part of racing but no easier to take when you know the best horse could never win the race.
By:
Its not just the horse though is it ?
Same as santini really The jockey was to blame not the horse Unfortunately you are backing both Everyone praised Codd for the ride on Ravenhill But when he held baker in with his arm In the kim muir no one said it was rank bad riding Except the stewards . He was totally out of order Getting into a personal battle riding a fav His attitude was feck the horse .....yet it was a previous cheltenham winner For me thats just as bad as jockeys Losing position at a vital stage of any race Unfortunately the best horse often loses |

You dont pass Cod on the inside Irishone. The golden rule. https://twitter.com/i/status/1205571564869181440
