I thought given a better run race, Pipesmoker would have beaten Chantry House at Cheltenham in December.
The latter is 10s for the Ballymore. Sporting John is 20s.
Pipesmoker is 66s and will be a lot shorter if he wins today.
Even if he doesn't win today, there is every reason to believe that conditions at Cheltenham will be way more suitable than today's.
I am having a small speculative stab, because I quite fancy him at Ascot today.
Clearly betting against Envoi Allen is a questionable strategy, but I have seen enough shorties beat over the years not to be scared of one horse a month before the event.
