Does anyone have any up and coming jockeys worth following in the likes of the National Hunt Chase, Martin Pipe and Foxhunters?
Before these races, I’ve always previously gone through jockey stats and automatically ruled out any jockeys with a very small amount of historical rides. The logic behind this being that these jockeys will be a poor judge of pace and either go off to quick, or be to far out the back.
I also look to see if a jockey has any Cheltenham form, and also any wins in a big field, thus being more likely to being used to the getting through small gaps that open and being able to get a horse jumping with limited vision.
I must admit in recent times to ruling out Frost and Lisa O’Neil for limited rides according to the atr website before seeing them go on to win.
Does anyone have any jocks who could do well off limited experience?

The stats are quite compelling.
No jockey claiming 5lbs or more has won a Festival handicap in the last 5 years. Only 1 of the last 62 Festival handicaps has been won by a jockey claiming 5 lbs or more.
Experience seems to be key. That goes for the three amateur races (NH chase, Kim Muir & Foxhunter) where the top Irish amateurs have been cleaning up.
If you take stats with a pinch of salt then Jack Tudor, Ben Jones and Rex Dingle appear good value for their claims (although only the first and last named are still claiming 5lbs I think).

In the past I would be happy to see 7lb beside a rider in the Foxhunters or the NH Chase as it might well be the same rider who had won 6 open point to points on the horse but these days the main contenders are from professional yards. Last years winner was an exception though.
The only one of the three “amateur only” races where amateurs are able to claim is the Kim Muir. The NH chase and Foxhunter are level weights contents and amateurs are unable to make use of any available claim.
True, but they might still be inexperienced riders who would claim in any other races. I don't think we are likely to see many like Jim Wilson, Jamie Codd and a few others who could match most professionals.
