This is a seriously good horse even at 10yo. Where would you run her at Cheltenham if anywhere? The mares hurdle looks obvious but you would have to consider the Champion hurdle in a weak year.

She would need to be supplemented for the CH so they may go elsewhere. I think Benie des Dieux would eat her up in the mares though. I suppose the Ryanair is not out of the question.

Let them all have a hard race at Cheltenham and put her in the 2m4f Hdl at Aintree

Imagination is a much underestimated part of a punters armoury ,you have shown plenty of it sageform in suggesting lady buttons should go for the champion hurdle.

Which race from the CH, Mares hurdle, Champion Chase and Ryanair do you think she is more likely to win? The answer might well be none of them but I think the CH is the weakest race on paper depending on where others go. Could she beat Honeysuckle or Benie des Dieux in the mares? Or Cyrname if he ran in the Ryanair or Defi in the CC? You could make a case for the best 4 hurdlers all being mares this season. The 2 above, Epatante and Lady B. And then there is Verdana Blue on fast ground and Apples Jade on old form who has the best RPR in the CH entry at the moment! The highest rated gelding is Sharjah on 167.

A very well put case sageform and I can’t disagree with anything you say, just can’t imagine her name on the champion hurdle ,she is by the way only entered for the mares and the champion chase.

The trainer has stated on many occasions that she is much better on a flat track which her record completely backs up. It’s the owners that wanted her to go last year when she got soundly beaten and it’s the owners again that are now talking about the champion chase. I am pretty sure if it was up to the trainer she would bypass Cheltenham and head to aintree. Whatever investment you chose to make I would 1) listen to the trainer and 2) take advantage of nrnb.

I saw the horse on Saturday and all her owners with there scarfs on they look a fun bunch ,the first race at leopardstown on Sunday 100,000 Euro I thought would be right up there street .

probally not a grade one horse on any course or conditions but even more so at cheltenham, only ever beats handicappers and must be doubts you could have a grade one at the festival weak enough for her to win
Report sageform January 27, 2020 1:41 PM GMT
You are probably right Gazo but she needs another try at a good 2 mile hurdle.
Report duffy January 27, 2020 2:20 PM GMT
She does deserve a try at a decent 2 mile hurdle, the problem is that she is shy of top class so would be an also ran against the best.

One thing though that we know about her is that she likes flat tracks, she is a powerful traveller, what to do I wonder???

Come on connections, this horse is tailor made for the Betfair Hurdle which is a prestigious race in its own right, a big field of hurdlers over 2 miles where she can be covered up and cruise through the race and be delivered late is ideal for this horse.

It's a bigger pot than the Mares where she'd have no chance and it provides the exact conditions that would see her thrive. She's 1 for 1 at the track also.

On a more general note, the game would be far more entertaining if more of the top horses ran in handicaps.

Would have been ideal.

I think The big obstacle with mares is the paddock value. The paddock value speaks significantly louder than prize money and it looks better on a page to win or be placed in a black type race than win or be placed in a top handicap.
