In horseracing half-siblings have the same dam. Geneticists might disagree but that is the established terminology of the horsey business.
Because sires are, well, studs, they might have hundreds of runners from whom to draw conclusions. They'd probably be more reliable conclusions than guessing on the basis of just two or three (maternal) half-brothers or sisters. But in racing, we look at the dam, partly because the sire is thought to be a known constant. |

Sad clueless lemmings
|

I’d agree with regards to following high profile tipsters normally but Fury Road went from hating Leopardstown to winning over Christmas.
To me, that shows a big improvement from his hurdle form and looks a big danger. The only worry is if the cheek pieces had the desired affect, but will they third time now that the horse is used to them? |
|
By:
dont know what your reffering to Irish with the lemmings comment...if u dont like sir Tom dont bother opening the thread....I feel for Tom atm hes forced to make selections in these races and clearly he not that keen

If he was any good why does he need to prove himself to us ? |
|
By:
Irish, you are without doubt very knowledgable ,connected and privvy to stuff the average forumite isnt, when your texting your stuff i always take note,,,,Your downside is you like to provoke..incite,,and talk down to people.ive no idea why u have that in you...Tom Segal inmo is the best racing man in the public eye and his tips on here deserve there place,no doubt....If you think hes a **** thats fine .but please dont insult Ash who has been sharing his stuff dilligently for years,...Better you dont get involved in the thread at all....

By:
irishone, don't shoot the messenger, if you don't like TS selections just lay them, you will win some, but lose some.

By:
Cheers sam
The whole concept is fractured Ash is TS isnt he ! The day TS puts up his time stamped betting slips Will be the day I will start looking |
|
By:
I agree with betting slips,he put 1 up for PP GC ridden by Tabitha for Josh Gifford and was available 70/80 for small £'s at 17.50pm on the Friday and he wasn't backing it.
I know as I wanted to bet it but waited and next day was surprised to see he'd tipped it sophy not sweep up and lay back, only saying like. |

The fact you cant see what he is at
Is the problem He backs a big outsider at 80\1 today It goes in the paper tomorrow A day later ashleigh and his pals get on Price shortens naturally TS lays off Job done |

By:
*pals ....should have said lemmings
|
|
By:
That must also apply to Upping the ante with Lynch and Jennings ?
|
|
By:
There is no evidence that Segal is front-running Pricewise selections, and some indirect evidence that he is not. His predecessor complained he had to compete with the masses to get prices in the morning, and there have been no whistleblowers from amongst the satchel-swingers.

By:
Thanks Irish 1 for clearing this up only seeing this now,how on earth it needed cleared up is beyond me
|
|
By:
of course he gets the best prices and carves em up on the exchange...only because hes been given that job as hes good at it,,,whoever had the job would do the same...and as i said imo he deserves his thread on here....tho i remember he went 0-35 at royal ascot one year,,,then stuck up a 50-1 winner in the big hcap at Newcastle...in the days the bookies used to honour the overnight prices for a short time in the shops...
|
|
By:
Of course he gets the best prices ......er exchange the post above highlighted he wasn't using his vacuum HTH

What that list and those prices show is that by and large, antepost betting is not worth the form study. It's not just Pricewise, it is all the pundits who commit to providing selections on a schedule.
|
|
By:
You make a good point Ramruma - TS has to pick a selection for a given race and he has to do it on a particular day, because that is what his paper requires. That puts him at a huge disadvantage compared with us, because we can choose if we want to bet at all, and when we want to bet. People need to remember that when criticising his selections. Frankly, I would not have fancied putting one up for the Champion Hurdle, Ryanair or Turners this year.
