So I get the online rp which comes through at 9 and have just downloaded so got it completely wrong. I genuinely didn’t  think he would risk APT in case he ran in the Ryanair. Two biggies didn’t even get a mention so scored 0/10.

Actually  before sending my post I have just read the  article and I don’t think CE would have been a million miles off of his choice had he not taken the APT different race risk so I’m giving myself 1/10
Report Hibore January 14, 2020 10:26 PM GMT
Don’t beat yourself up. I would make ROTS odds on to be the selection in Ryanair now APT is out the running Grin
I think APT will run in the Champion unless the ground is quick, he’s a similar type to Defi and Altior. Stamina seems at a premium these days rather than the speed types when they used to go steady for the first half of the race.

What is Tom’s next race he’s analysing?
Report miltons sophie January 15, 2020 7:11 AM GMT
Well he went for a fast improving second season chaser just not the one with the guaranteed target
Report miltons sophie January 15, 2020 7:11 AM GMT
It’s done it again to me I typed lines of post and just sent the first line it’s driving me round the bend
Report miltons sophie January 15, 2020 7:14 AM GMT
So here we go again

As an aside I think he is completely wrong when he says APT has much better form than CE. When ballyoising is on a going day jumping for fun he is a very hard horse to beat. I have no doubt he was on a going day lto and actually outjumped CE and yet CE just swept him away. I think he is incorrectly undervaluing that form. I do agree that the APT from is strong.

Part 76

Btw something for consideration

1) he may post on this forum (unlikely)
2) he may observe on this forum (likely)
3) he mak have a friend or acquaintance on this forum who is keeping him updated on the thread (highly likely)

My intention is not to compromise the process. I just want people to recognise they can do what he does and trust their own knowledge and skill and not be unduly influenced.
Report miltons sophie January 15, 2020 7:22 AM GMT
Part 812

Don’t know hat race he is doing next. Ironically the only notice I have taken of him lately is when  I get myself in a lather on a Saturday when he and his twin brother give 5 or so horses each and almost always share two and sometimes more..... seriously

I mentioned in a post earlier in thread that if I were he I would look to add value in a different way by now. Hopefully I will remember to expand on this later in relation to him putting up apt as his selection because I Think there are missed opportunities to help punters.

Most refreshing for me was the fact that a number of posters explored the novice chaser back to hurdles angle and what a shout from Hibore as soon as he said it you just knew it was a great call. Cleeve  really fascinating race. pP and ITCF missed one or two engagements so I just wonder if SB might be able to take advantage Saturday??? I think he will stay and stay well as long as he settles.

I'm confused! Segal put Summerville Boy up at 25/1 (available with 4 different firms according to the antepost grid accompanying the Pricewise preview).

He's no bigger than 16/1 now but am I also led to believe that SB had shortened to 16/1 by 07.15 on the morning of publication? In which case, what is the point of including the grid in the print version of the paper?

Either way, it seems a ludicrous overreaction to a tip for a race 7 weeks away.

Incidentally, Segal tipped Summerville Boy for the Ladbrokes Trophy 2-3 months ago (despite quotes from his trainer on the adjacent page casting real doubt about whether he'd even run in the race). Perhaps he's just going to keep tipping him antepost until he actually wins one.

In fairness I can see where he's coming from this time but Summerville Boy would n't even be guaranteed to uphold the Relkeel finishing positions with William Henry on Saturday - WH gets a 6lb pull in the weights and should, theoretically at least, come on for his first run of the season (although maybe he does n't really want to go 3 miles).

If he tipped Apples Jade he should be put in prison.

reaseheath, decided to put up this thread of ts ante-post cheltenham and put up prices only with the big firms available on the day the paper comes out, i realise prices maybe there the night before but most are not. the best price on summerville boy on the morning was 16/1, not even any 20/1.

ts contradicts himself when on a saturday he puts all selections up at sp because prices are not held and traded all the time they come out, yet if one the cheltenham selections wins he will claim it at the best price, when the price was likely non existent.

hope this clarifies things.

Don't think the Tolworth form is worth much at all and aren't Fry's horses running like drains at the moment?

He might not be brilliant but people clutching at straws to get Appreciate It beat. Ballymore is shaping up as easily the most competitive of the three novice hurdles. Very much hope that Pricewise hasn't put up Bear Ghylls.

Report differentdrum February 11, 2021 10:13 AM GMT
In years gone by Pricewise would never have put up a horse like Bob Olinger at 5/1. There is nothing obvious between those 3-4 at the top of the market. You may as well just use a pin. If value existed on these horses it has already long been cleaned up.

Bear Ghylls has had a bungled preparation (crazy decision run in an Exeter handicap when a Warwick graded race was a few days later) and quite possibly should at least have been given an Albert Bartlett entry but that said he remains a horse with significant potential and is still a backable price.
