If you take Altior, Sir Eric, Paisley and perhaps Tiger Roll as bankers the remaining races are the hardest to work out I can remember. Each race seems to have 3 or 4 possibilities at least and the trials seem to have thrown up more confusion than answers.

Can’t remember only 1 odds-on race before the festival either in modern times.

Is it just a poor year without many potential stars ?

They can't all be good, I am wary that Mullins had a bad spell in December, can't say they are running that great now so his stars are quiet leaving space for everyone.

Altior & Sir Erec look the bankers for now.

btw. Mullins could absolutely destroy the handicaps at big prices if they come back to form....

God I hope so!

I loathe it when a string of favourites go in. Any idiot can pick favourite after favourite and convince thmselves they've got the game by the ging-gangs.

Takes a bit of effort and understanding and fortitude to back well-thought-through bets at bigger odds, knowing most will get beat, for hose one or two that generate the profit and the broadest of grins.

Hanx I couldn't agree more... Also a lot of them chunky ew place bets pay more than a short price fav with less of an outlay

absolutley hanx and que , my first thought in  races  is reasons to oppose the shortie

Sir Erec was 7/1 before his latest win similarly, Paisley Park 12/1 and Altior 7/4. Now and again if one is "lucky" the possible payout could be extremely rewarding. And, I think all these 3 horses warrant their present prices given known info; Buveur D'Air and Clan Des Obeaux could join them (I hope).

Plenty of shortish ones again. In addition to those mentioned in the original post, Benie Des Deaux and Buveur D'air both likely to be under 2/1, Ok Corral will perhaps be the shortest price fav in the 4 miler for many years, Champ and Le Richebourg sure to go off favourite for their respective races. Not really much different to most festivals. Maybe only 1 or 2 odds on chances this year but probably isn't more than 3 the vast majority of years so the shape is similar. The form does feel less consistent (in the Uk at least) however.
