Had Abacadabras not been impeded and then ducked into the rail in Envoi Allens race at Leopardstown then he would surely have got very close to the winner, seemed to be closing and going well at the time. Only had two runs and maybe more to come, 16/1 looks about right, win and place.

1st Envoi Allen (Cheveley Park Stud) Ring price: 10/3 into SP 2/1fav Gordon Elliott Mr JJ Codd, led turning in, shaken up over 1f out, ridden and stayed on when hard pressed inside final furlong, held on well
2nd 0.75L Blue Sari (ML Bloodstock Ltd) Ring price: 5/2 out to SP 7/2 WP Mullins BJ Geraghty, ridden into 2nd over 1f out, stayed on to press winner and every chance inside final furlong, just held 3rd 1.75L Thyme Hill (The Englands and Heywoods) Ring price: 25/1 SP 20/1 Philip Hobbs R Johnson, ridden over 1f out, kept on same pace, no impression in 3rd inside final furlong 4th 3.25L Abacadabras (Gigginstown House Stud) Ring price: 11/1 SP 14/1 Gordon Elliott Ms Lisa O'Neill, led narrowly 3f out, headed turning in, ridden and not quicken over 1f out, well held in 4th final furlong An interesting combination this season with Ferny Hollow 20/1 (runs 3.40 Sunday - same debut race that Envoi won last season)... Don't know how they do this but Kirk paid £300K to find out (Envoi cost 400K btw)..... We await the £410K WR from Gordon/Giggs |

By:
The WPM trained Ferny Hollow far too keen this afternoon
|
|
By:
He is still favourite because the market hasn't taken shape.
Unless they magically iron out all the quirks (he was hanging as well) then he hasn't got a prayer. At this stage people are just backing a stable and hoping for the best. |

Was really impressed with Champagnesuperover at Ayr on Jan 2nd. Sauntered through the race and cantered clear in a time over 4 seconds faster than the Nicky Richards bumper winner, that had a protracted dual up the home straight, 5 days later on similar heavy ground. Took some of the 20s on Skybet hoping it turns up.

Have backed and keeping an eye on Power of Pause of Mullins. Has an entry Friday at Thurles, will be interesting if he does run and how he gets on. Like his PTP form.
The other is Deploy the Getaway, but have seen no news or anything, so guessing it’s either injured or Mullins has it totally geared up and will suddenly turn up on track, hose up and be fav on the day. Hoping for the latter! Form of his PTP is nothing special, but did win by 20 lengths and I believe Cheveley Park paid a princely sum for it. |

ESKYLANE wins the bumper Navan
|
|
By:
The bumper race that WPM's Appreciate It won - was won by WPM's Blackbow in 2018, who was only 5th in Cheltenham, behind a 1,2,3 for WPM - Relagate (25/1)/Carefully Selected (6/1)/Tornedo Flyer (14/1).....WPM must have at least two better than him this year.

I really like Gordon's Darling Daughter , she probably reflects her 25/1 chance on here , but I loved her win at Leopardstown Festival on the Sunday . My question is this , she had her stable companion in the race Bigbadandbeautiful who was 5/6 jolly (that she slaughtered ) and she was a 25s chance . Gordon in his pre-Festival preview said she doesnt do anything at home and is definitely going to Cheltenham . Will he have changed the emphasis of her training since the result of that race ? ie can we expect even more improvement or am I just reading too much into things .

I remember going to cheltenham years ago and you would wait for willie in the last, thats all he ever seemed to win, now he wins most days
|
|
By:
I suppose you only started going as it was a Tourist Attraction

|
By:
