He may not have the 'sex appeal' of something trained by Mullins or Nicholls, but SUSSEX RANGER put up a very good performance today, giving weight and a sound beating to a couple of horses rated 90+ on the flat. The time of the race was decent and he looks to have a bit of scope for improvement too. The trainer seemed a bit conservative after the race, mentioning the Fred Winter as a likely target, but I suspect that once Phil Smith and the boys in Halifax have run their rule over today's run he might realise the horse is up to Triumph standard.

Redicean looked a class act there to me. I'd make him challenging for favouritism in my book.

Yeh,hes very good.Jumped better than last time i saw him and showed that turn of foot again.
Think the 2nd could be pretty useful as well given time.
Great day out,bl00dy cold though, but the sun was out and Redicean certainly warmed me up.
Buveur Dair and Might Bite worked after racing which was a bonus, and got some nice photos for my collection.

All for a fiver.....cant be bad.

Redicean has more gears than Katchit, according his his trainer Alan King. Let's hope he's right (I'm on), and I've not had a "proper" Triumph winner since Mysilv, Oh So Risky and Kribensis - yes, it is that looooong.

6/1 (here) but generally 5/1 with most bookies.

Was £20 on the day, but the owners of Kempton and Sandown send me occasional e-mails offering tickets for a fiver.
Got one for the last meeting when Redicean won,one for Saturday, and got another for the Sandown meeting the Saturday before Cheltenham.
Loads of people had them Saturday,so guess you just have to get on their e-mail list.

Redicean is attracting a lot of supporters here but I'm also looking for a serious saver (a winner). Is Apple's Shakira the real deal? 3/1 (nrnb) is a bit skinny...the 7lbs mares allowance is attractive though.

Report impossible123 February 28, 2018 4:12 PM GMT
Her price is extremely punitive for what she's done. I think that is mainly to do with being in the care of Hendo otherwise a more accurate price would be nearer 8/1. Maybe I need to play in-running for a bigger price.

Report joevalue147 November 5, 2018 10:16 PM GMT
Jack Regan done it nicely at Market Rasen Quevega06 but i really think the UK 3 year old form is very average so far. Cracker Factory is way down the pecking order as a possible Truimph Hurdle winner.  Coeur Sublime has a lot to learn about jumping but he has from now till March to perfect it.  He has a massive engine and a real grinding type with a touch of class. I think the truimph is made for him.

Can’t believe Adjali is still 33/1.

His French form keeps getting boosts. Quel Destin did it nicely on debut and Adjali has beaten him comfortably twice. Crazy that QD is shorter in the market just because he’s run here imo.

To answer the question earlier about Adjali, the Triumph is for 4yos, not novice hurdlers. They can have won hurdle races as 2yo's and still qualify. I remember way back when Jim Old had the favourite for the race in Cima and we were confident that it would beat all of the UK opposition but it was beaten by a horse from France called Shiny Copper that had been hurdling since the previous March.

Pic D'Orhy for those who prefer less of the cloak and dagger.

At a guess Saturday's winner has probably improved since they met. You would just be hoping that the French form is better than Irish/English form.

According to the going reports has never run on anything quicker than very soft.

Best priced 16/1 and never any bigger than 20/1 so hardly a monster gamble thus far.

Very keen on Laskadine. The Warwick win was workmanlike but he could improve dramatically for his next run. He jumped in the way some French recruits do first time here but settled and stayed. Suspect the next run could place him near the front of the market.

Vert impressive indeed. Shame I took no interest until today as I'm no great fan of The Triumph; good Flat pedigree, and 3rd to Stradivarius. This race is his only entry t the Festival. And I think he'll be a significantly shorter on the day, and probably considered an Irish banker at the Festival; his stablemate the impressive winner of the Trial at Cheltenham Fakir D'oudairies could be re-routed to the Supreme given the same ownership as he's more than one entries.
Report Mystic Wind February 3, 2019 6:17 PM GMT
Fakir D'Oudairies is not owned by JP to the best of my knowledge, he might still be re-routed though. Interesting that he got multiple entries but Sir Erec got just the one.

Remember HousesofParliament and Sword Fighter? Seldom do highly rated flat horses transfer their class to jumping. I remember JOB sent a bunch of them to Enda Bolger for schooling and the majority of them didn't even make it to the track. Sir Erec looks a natural though. Fingers crossed he develops into a top 2 miler.

Indeed. I remember that year well; I was on Landofhopeandglory, Housesofparliament and one another who did not make it to the racecourse despite running in a Derby Trial. But Sir Erec (SE) did win 1st time out, and was fav after, only usurped by SE after FD won impressively at Cheltenham.

Very impressive from from Fusil Raffles today, a very big danger to Sir Erec, and the ownership can run the horse that led today to try and pester SE up front in an attempt to mess up his jumping that was atrocious on debut when he raced in amongst horses.

Looked good, hard to tell what he’s best though. Also looked to have a nasty cut on his back leg which could take some healing
Report differentdrum February 23, 2019 6:44 PM GMT
Personally, I thought crossing the line he looked a massive danger to the favourite. Travelled well, jumped very well and quickened up nicely. Hard to fault. Clearly the favourite has a big engine but his jumping is a work in progress and he had the run of the race last time. Get a couple wrong at the Festival and it could suddenly become very hard work.

All of that thrown up in the air by the cut. He wasn't obviously lame after the race but presumably the next couple of days will be crucial as to whether he makes the race. A real shame if he doesn't.
Report impossible123 February 25, 2019 11:10 AM GMT
