At the new venue of Mainstown, the Kilmoganny Foxhounds held a point-to-point in November 2015. Pat Doyle had Young Turk then for Walter Connors and after Derek O'Connor's mount had scored, the Tipperary handler remarked: "I think the world of this fellow. He is only a baby and I shouldn't have run him last season as he wasn't ready. I think this fellow could be very special." For his part O'Connor commented: "I was thrilled to ride the first winner over the track, Young Turk for Pat Doyle, in the four-year-old maiden. This was run in the fastest time of the day and we had a good tussle with Minella Fair. My fellow was fast and slick over the last to settle the issue."

YOUNG TURK made an encouraging return after a long break last time and he can perhaps do better now up in trip - Joseph Patrick O'Brien has him in Bellewstown 6.15 this evening ! @10/1.

Pat Doyle thought the world of Young Turk in his days 'between the flags' and after spending plenty of time on the side-lines the son of Poliglote could be set to make up for lost time after his win in the Bluegrass Horse Feeds Maiden Hurdle at Bellewstown today. Gigginstown House Stud and Joseph O'Brien have the six-year-old now, and under Shane Shortall in this two and a half miler he beat former Cheltenham Bumper hero Silver Concorde by a length and three parts.

Shortall said: "He's still a big, raw horse - that's only his fourth run and his second over hurdles.
"I don't think the track (Tramore) suited him the last day. He found loads for me today and had plenty left in the tank.

"I wouldn't call him an out-and-out three miler but I imagine his game is fences and anything he does over hurdles will be a bonus."

Thanks for posting CMC, unfortunately I didn't see this till now. Hope you had more than a few quid on. I actually checked the markets after he crossed the line, out of curiosity, but didn't see him obv. Think he definitely looks promising, and I don't think it'll be long before he's quoted for something.

THAT'S his Beginners Chase in-the-bag, under Rachael Blackmore (upped in trip to 2m.7f on good ground) - waited with, closer in 4th after 10th, tracked leaders in 3rd from 3 out, challenged between last 2, led approaching last, ridden out to maintain advantage run-in, led home his six rivals with Elliott's Burren Life 2nd 1.75L (also owned by Gigginstown) and evens fav Moyross 3.25L further back in 3rd.
Blackmore said afterwards: "He progressed again from Listowel so it was a lovely performance. "Joseph said to take my time with him and come with one run. He did it well. He was still in front a bit soon but he was right for today and he jumped well."
