Has anyone here paid 300 upwards for 1 night to stay in cheltenham town and revel in the atmosphere? I like my independence and comfort but I hate being ripped off. You can get a hotel for 70 or 80 15miles out but it's great not having to drive everyday and just chill out
Maybe I'm getting older, but there seemed to be more pissed up idiots than ever about this year and I was very glad not to be staying in the town centre.

I've visited twice cantcatchme I stayed bells hotel coleford I would prefer to stay closer but accomodation is taking the piss out of it. I've done my numbers and because I like a hotel and my own room it's prohibitive before you even have a bet. I've been to Paris and the arc twice and that's way cheaper to go. I can have a few days in Paris and go to French champion hurdle in auteuil for half the price. It's probably cheaper for me to go with maybe Barrys travel and pay a single supplement?
I welcome any suggestions

We hire a cottage about half an hour drive away. Would love to stay in Cheltenham for the week one year but it's a hell of a lot of money to justify spending on a bed

For a good few years I have been staying in a lovely bed and breakfast called the Bradley in Montpellier, for a double or twin room its £250 a night, well worth it in comparison to other places I have stayed at for more money.
Gorgeous hotel full of original features but with modern bathrooms, wonderful breakfast in the downstairs conservatory and nothing to much trouble for them, Tess the manager is great.
I put £3 a day in a jar to pay for it, if you cant put £3 a day away don't bother going to the festival.
when I left on Friday they had a couple of spare rooms for next year.

Last year 4 nights 3 of us in a 2 bedroom flat, pretty nice. Was about £1,200 with fees etc. (via airbnb) After the visit guy phoned up and said next year its £2,800 but as we looked after the place he will do it for £2,500!!! Said thanks but no thanks, got another place sorted for just under £1,000 (looks nice garden etc) 10 min walk north of the course but a bit further to go to the centre now.
Ticket prices going up constantly and paying earlier and earlier to get the lowest prices.

Reading a few replies on here makes me realise how lucky me and lads I go with are. We have been staying at same place for about 20 years and the price for 5 nights is £250. Its a small b+b not far from town centre
