Count me in. I've been in the States as much as I've been here this winter and I might take a back seat on the choosing side this time if someone else wants a go, but I'll definitely pile in.

If we want in do we PM a horse let the selection panel choose from those nominated then take the plunge once PMD said horse on Monday
Or just sit back and await hoss to be PMD thats selected If so im in either way . No doubt it will be reported from books reps as sustained gamble from well known faces  |

Got that dragon. Geoff yes its the idea that people put forward a selection with some reasoning and rational for their selection then once the selected panel have narrowed it down and agreed on the plunge horse then its released to the forum on the monday

Mister Mayagi Coral Cup ran a screamer in Supreme made a complete horlicks of the 1st hurdle but upsides Buveur Dair and Petit Mouchoir @ 2nd last finishing just in front off P.M has won twice @ track and over distance will be suited by a step up back to 2 1/2 and better ground dissapointed on soft and heavy in past. Stable had 2nd last year with Long House Hall . Skelton is a master in his brief time laying em out for these big hcaps. Superb Story, Ctibello,North Hill Harvey etc. Currently around 25s

I've never understood the point of this annual thread. Not only does the cumulative impact of all the 50 pence bets placed by those saying "count me in" have zero impact on price but the so-called "plunge horse" never wins! This thread reads like a lonely hearts club.

Old Guard is one i'm interested in backing whereever i see him pop up next week. You go back far enough you see some decent handicapping type form. Rated at a high of 157 he's now come down the weights rated 150, so quite possibly might find himself near the top of the weights where ever he runs but last run he would have had no chance in again unowhatimeanharry anyways and was still dropped a pound or two. He's a hardy horse thats type often pops up in these festival handicaps at nice prices.

Time is well and truely getting on now. Ive had a few messages with selections,does anyone want to sift thru them with me to make a final decision for Monday or shall we just go with the most compelling case and pile in when released Monday? You can almost smell the people who sign up for "the Plunge" you mean?
Rumour has it that few if any of the Plunge merchants will be at Cheltenham in person this week. Instead, the Festival will just be like any other racing day, stuck in front of the PC or telebox hoping on their lonesome. Look forward to finding out at the end of the week what the Plunge horse was and how it fared. I can confidently predict the latter and I know I won't notice the Plunge when it happens because a small number of cack-handedly coordinated 50p each way bets does not move the market. |

If you're not interested in getting involved why read the thread, and then go to the effort of doing several posts on it? It's a bit of fun between like minded people who want to have a collective winner during the best week of the year, and not cranks who like to have a go at others.
...also, what has being at the course got to do with it? You like staring at a screen 100 yards away, missing all of the pre and post race interviews, queueing for a piss and pint? Then so be it. Anyway, like RV above, I don't care because I'm in a good mood. Biggest meeting of the year starts tomorrow, I'm off work all week and all is good with the world. Bring it on!!! |
