Yeah it's always a good laugh but - at the risk of getting all up the @rse about what should be a bit of fun - everyone needs to buy into the objective.
This could be anything from to back a winner (duh!), to try and make the market move, to get the 'BF Cheltenham Festival Newsgroup' mentioned by media outlets as 'the men the bookies fear'! In the past we've tended to go for one horse in one race (usually a handicap and usually the 3 miler on day one as the runners are known, and punters don't get lost in the maelstrom of other activities during the rest of the week) plus a life-changing multiple. Bets are usually placed at a specified hour (Monday at or as close to noon as possible, from memory) for nothing else than the fun of seeing any bookies reaction to a multiplicity of bets on the same horses, up and down the land. It goes without saying we've won naff all from this exercise over the years! Anyway, there's a bit of 'structure' and 'how we've done things in the past'. Whilst it's great to get input from as may people as possible, I think it's always best to let the final decision rest with one person before the charge. Not me though as I will be out of circulation for much of the Monday this year, but good luck and thanks to anyone who does step up to organize it. |

Count me in for the first time this year!
Sounds like a bit of crack win, lose or draw! |
By:
I'll be in again this far
Would be pretty tempted to suggest whatever the least favoured JP horse is in the Triumph. Everyone knows he loves a plot and in a Triumph where he could have a hand full, a plunge on his least favoured would probably make the bookies sit up and take note |

lm in this year, sounds a bit of a giggle.

I'll nominate which ever one of Tony Martins runs in the FW (as long as it has an OR of around 130). |

The idea is that once there is a so called selected panel, they then get together (by private message) or like last year we created a whatsapp group. Then it is discussed and narrowed down to the final selection/s which are then revealed at a set date and time to try and cause a ripple in the market along with that added dimension or us all for a bit of fun make a few quid as well. As mentioned above we aint done brill over the years but the aim isnt to back a fav if possible as of course the bigger the price and the more people steam in then we shift the market. In the past it has only been advised to have fivers tenners or scores etc. So with only four weeks left may i suggest we crack on nominating a panel of say a max of five?
|
By:
Definitely 180 - isn't it usually you, WellChief, FOYLESWAR & Marychain that do it? If so & ppl want to do that again then happy with the normal panel! I still remember Olofi in the County in 2012!

hi sj ,and welcolm to the forum , the "plunge "is something thats been going for a few years now ,its basically a single bet in one of the festival handicaps at a decent price that is selected by 2 posters, rogerthebutler and marychain ,the selection is posted around lunchtime on the monday of cheltenham week and a large percentage of the forum back it , although the numbers on the forums have dwindled this year so there may not be the numbers there once were ,its just a bit of fun and hopefully we can profit from it , becoming a bit of a tradition now . an each way accumallator is also being planned..............
