I've nailed my colours to the Don Cossack mast but after the way the Mullins camp handled the whole Vautour episode I think the most unpopular winner tomorrow will be clearly Djakadam. I could feel happy enough for every other horse in the race tomorrow to win for varying reasons apart from Djakadam. That said, Mullins must feel that he has an outstanding chance and I can see him shortening to 2/1 or less.
Djakadam was always going gold cup and Imo I can't see a problem if he wins it tomorrow. Today however with vautour in the Ryanair was a different matter and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Let's hope either Cue Card or either of the two Dons win for different reasons; if it is Djakadam the racegoers might allow their "emotion" to rule their head and possibly "boo" its connections as it is the last day of the Festival. I hope not but punters who have lost their money on Vautour in the Gold Cup just might.

I'm undecided. I like the horse. I'm not concerned about going in relation to getting the trip. I'm more concerned about his athletecism over fences if the ground is good.

Good idea. At 1am were obviously both sober. 10 pts Djakadam, and if he trimmed the fences like cue card i'd be more confident. Jean Claude Djakadam it is.

Can only be due to the ground. Mullins intimated that Djakadam was ready to produce a monster performance yesterday after he was interviewed after Vautours facile victory. He was asked if Vautour was the best chaser he'd trained and he replied saying ''let's wait and see what Djakadam does tomorrow''. Reading between the lines that indicated to me that he expects him to win. Either way today is the acid test of Mullin's judgement. If Djakadam wins the Vautour furore will die a death, if he doesn't then Ricci will have a lot of legitimate questions.

Think we may see a replica of PUnchestowns performance from DON COSSACK,
honestly the more i look at it i think barring an accident cossack wins and wins easily, field size is good for him so hell have some room. Hes such a big horse i think thats very important not to be too crowded and smad place means it will be a gd even gallop.
wouldnt read to much into all that stuff with the hmeworkk with vautour, something isnt right there and if he was working as bad as they say he could of been working against anything and made them look good. There point was vautour was working bad not djakadam great.
More i look at it last year gold cup form is absolutely rubbish. Seriously look at it bar the winner and djak and theres nothing. And djak only caught road to riches very late on ground hed of hated. Also fell twice out of 3 times and genuine good ground wouldnt be preferable.
Honestly cant see cue card staying, cant see him winning this at 10.
Smad place isnt good enough to win.
Don polli isnt classy enough but in the gold cup when horses like syncronized can win tells you it isnt all about class so hes the danger for me. Although everything tells me i cant have him, he has a lot of ticks.
Don cossack will loe this ground, Absolutely love it. I honestly expect him to win and win easily. More i look more i keep having on lol Cant have the chelt not his track thery cooper killed him last year. I think you may see him win 5 lengths plus today

Djakadam is very weak: it has drifted from 4.1 immediately after Vautour's demise of his rival in the Ryanair to 6.2 at the moment.
I just hope BC allows DC the view of every fence, bid his time and not challenge too early definitely not between horses jumping the 2nd or the last fence. Also, DC has the Cheltenham hill to bring the best out of him....here's hoping!
I hope a safe passage for every horse in every race.

I'm really hoping for Cue Card and think it is between him and Smad Place. Djakadam and Don Cossack don't jump well enough and ground concerns for former. Don Poli probably isn't good enough although has the typical stayer profile of a Gold Cup horse.

Ricci will always be left wondering about Vautour. The King George form was the best form and it looked like Cue Card and Don Poli were going to battle it out. Where would Vautour have finished, who knows but in the cold light of day Rich Ricci will surely be querying the Mullins decision. Meanwhile Mullins is yet again the bridesmaid in the Gold Cup, he is racking up more runner up finishes in the big one than Jimmy White.

Don Cossack was given a brilliant ride by Brian Cooper who really did well to keep him jumping safely like that. Cue Card was full of running and about to take it up when falling three out and it would have definitely have been interesting to see Don Cossack give chase rather than cruising into the lead past Djakadam.
It is not possible to be certain Vautour would have won, sure he quickened clear in the Ryanair but based on what happened in the King George where he also quickened clear he might well have have struggled late on. With another year under his belt the King George and the Gold Cup would be a good double for next year as he does look all class.

agree imp those who dare win but if I were Ricci I would be pissed off with Mullins and Walsh Vatour was a live gold cup contender and would have preferred todays conditions way more than Djakadam. Think they shot themselves in the foot to be honest.

Agree, Vautour might not get conditions as ideal as today; if WPM has nothing next year apart from Djakadam and Vautour again for the CGC it's a near certainty RW will ride the latter unless a conclusive defeat in this year's King George prevails.
