Henderson suggested he'll be on Peace&Co in his stable tour a couple of weeks back.

It'd be a no brainer for me, Top Notch, no matter what the ground is.

Would it be David Bass on the second string? He was on Top Notch in the Relkeel.

I think he will probably have to take a chance and ride peace and co on last season's form and hope for a huge improvement on this season's runs.

Good or Good/soft ground - PAC
Soft ground - Top Notch

Hargam [wants good ground] and Top Notch [wants soft] both ran very well in the Triumph last year. Daryl Jacob will ride Top Notch rather than Peace And Co, who has been disappointing this year

Great news.

Went on too say he thought peace and co had back problems, and is working better now. But tbh I wouldn't hold much hope.
Interesting that, henderson said that 2 days ago and Darryl himself said today he hasn't decided. But maybe he's just making sure top notch gets there first.

Was thinking it might have been Bass on the other one, but it would probably be De Boinville wouldn't it, so actually, jockey choice wouldn't be that important now.

If Jacob did end up picking P&C, I'd be happy with De Boinville if he had to get on Top Notch.

The Triumph form is not worth a row of beans in the context of this Champion Hurdle, sub-standard though it may be. Annie power, Nichols Canyon and The New One all rated higher than any of them.
Report wellchief March 8, 2016 7:37 PM GMT
Top Notch only has 2 lengths to make up on Nichols Canyon, and is three times the price.  He was having his second run in a week when he went down a neck in the Fighting Fifth.  Not saying he'll win it, but he is still overpriced at 16's.

* 2 lengths on NC on a line through Identity Thief, I should have said.
Report sageform March 8, 2016 8:02 PM GMT
Top Notch looks marginally the best of the Triumph runners although Old Guard has done well apart from his last run but surely it would be a very poor CH if any of the 5yo's win it?
Report buddeliea March 8, 2016 8:51 PM GMT
Can't be a great CH if AP is fav.

Top Notch is a young improving horse, and will have to improve to figure, but that's the thing with these types, they do improve.
